The Woodlands, Clayton-le-Moors
Anyone any photos of The Woodlands, across from Sparth House, by the traffice lights? (its a sort of recreation area). Apparently it was "made" by men from Clayton le Moors in the 1930's. There is a scheme underway to bring it back to its original "look".

I remember the Woodlands, circa 50s & 60s, Fronting Whalley rd, there was an ornimental pool in the middle, the playing fields backed on to it, there was a place called bluebbell woods, nearby, close to Clayton hall.

Re: The Woodlands, Clayton-le-Moors
Bluebell wood probably disapeared in the 60s, when they built a new housing eastate, next to the Woodlands, Near the river stink, at Hyndburn bridge, does it still stink, I should nt think so this day and age. My dad said he found a boy in the river, when he was a boy, said he must have been in there a while, the rats had most of him. Sparth House, the Poole family had that, they owned Pooles pop drinks behind the Conservative Club in Clayton.

they have a home for the elderly there too now, i used to work there, i must say it was lovely looking out of the kitchen window & seeing the squirrels climbing the trees (yes we fed them) but when ive taken the odd walk through there it just seemed to be a path a little stream & trees & more trees. but a lovely walk all the same.
