Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
Hi people, I'm after a little help. I'm trying to compile a list of all the areas in Accrington/Hyndburn (for an optional profile field) I can't remember all the areas and I'm sure there may be some I haven't even heard of.
example - Accrington, Spring Hill Accrington, Huncoat Oswaldtwistle, West End etc. etc.. Please help! |
Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
Accrington: Springhill, Barnfield, Woodnook, Baxenden, Fern Gore, Scaitcliffe, Milnshaw
Green Howarth Ossie: West End, Stanhill Church: Dill Hall, Church Kirk Rishton: Eachill Gt Harwood: Overton Altham Rising Bridge Clayton-le-Moors: Oakenshaw, Field Bottoms Probably more that I've missed, especially Harwood & Rishton, but it's a start. Suggest you try council website. They have a list of Council wards, but maybe that's too specific |
Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
cheers cazzer, a good start as you say!! I don't want to check the council site as I wanted it to come from our users then we don't make any mistakes (hehe)!
So far then, in the drop down box we can have: Accrington
Rising Bridge Altham Are these 2 classed as Accrington or are they towns themselves? It's actually quite interesting this anyway! Any more input quite welcome... |
Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
We've had a spelling correction - MILNSHAW, not Milnshore. And Hyndburn has been confirmed as:
Accrington, Altham, Church, Clayton Le Moors, Gt Harwood, Oswaldtwistle and Rishton (7 in total) |
Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
There's good old Peel Park in accy too!! Don't forget us!! :'(

Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..

Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
Great Harwood has the following areas according to my work map.
Harwood Bar Lowergate Cliffe Edge End Oswaldtwistle Foxhill I'll keep looking but my map is several years old. ;D |
Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
Just found this thread in the depths of the forum and noticed "Center" - that should be "Central", and then there's also Oakleigh.
|
Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
Royal mail postal codes, google it and it will give all the areas and the postal codes, had to do it for our website!
|
Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
Don't forget Belthorn - half of it is in Hyndburn
PS - when you ring 999 from there they ask which side of the road needs help |
Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
Have we got Rising Bridge or is that officially Rossendale?

Rising Bridge Altham Are these 2 classed as Accrington or are they towns themselves? Altham and Altham west are both Accrington, I thought rising bridge was Rossendale. |
Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
Complicated isn't it? I've always thought it fun going in and out of that little bit of Altham on the way to Clayton. (of which, don't forget, there is a top end and a bottom end)

Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
There is a list of them all in Shurmer's guide Roy .. don't know whether you want me to list them all or what.
Some I have never heard of e.g. Goosebutts, Rishton, Cocker Lumb, Oswaltdtiwistle... must be around 120. My edition is (I think) 1988 .. if I have read the Roman Numberals correctly::pblink: MCMLXXXVlll Could be a few more now ! |
Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
Numerals even .. just testing...:psmile:

Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
Think Shillelagh can possibly confirm or argue this but I think Rising Bridge is part of Hyndburn as far as the national government is concerned i.e. Greg is the MP for that area, but part of Rossendale as far as local government is concerned.

Re: Accrington / Hyndburn Areas help..
I posted to this thread before I realised it was an old one, it looks like others have too, you got me there willow, but since we are now here, the new houses in Altham have a name of there own, I just can't remember what it is, and our office is right in front of it, and I work on that estate often.

Ok here goes Gayle, Rising Bridge postal address is Accrington, BUT we are in Rossendale the boundary for the borough is just past Hollands pies where the little row of cottages are, the house on its own is still in Rossendale but its just after that. We pay rates etc to Rossendale, our MP is indeed Greg but most of Haslingden is down to where the Woolpack is and tesco. Our telephone numbers are rossendale as well. Anything else i missed? :D Oh yes our postcodes are BB5 but when you get to just past the school on rising bridge road and past the roundabout the postcodes change to BB4!!! |
