I wonder if they'll have any additional security, people used to just walk in to the old one, take things and walk out.

Re: Petrol station
Just a thought, will all the old staff get theirs jobs back?
I wonder how they would feel about working for such a large company. |
Re: Petrol station
Ok, it was and Esso Petrol Station with a franchised shop owned by a bloke from Haslingden. Tesco Express have an Alliance with Esso, in which they take over the franchise of the Shop, Esso don't touch Tescos money, and vice versa. The shops in Esso filling stations have never made much money for Esso anyway, as the franchisers take most of money. Anyway, it will take around 10 weeks to knock down and rebuild, it will be open from 6am-12pm, all the current Staff have been given new contracts by Tesco and are currently training at a Tesco Express/Esso site in Burnley, Tesco Clubcards will NOT give points on Fuel, as it belongs to Esso. There will be an in-store Bakery and plenty of reasonably priced shop goods (thats reasonable, don't expect Superstore prices, you're paying for the conveniance :)) There will also be quite a few more members of Staff taken on, asTesco like to have enough Staff to stock up Shelves and take the tills if it gets busy, so expect very little waiting. Anyway, I have to say, despite the new early starts I've been given, and the commute up to Burnley, I am enjoying it, and am looking forward to the new Store opening in Accrington and getting back to serving all my regulars. Can't believe I actually miss chatting with the Customers!

Re: Petrol station
*L*
excellant so did the actual store come up for sale or was it just a routine thing they're doing with all esso stations? |
Re: Petrol station
Not particularly sure to be honest mate. They were apparently looking for a property in Accrington, the bloke who owns the small car sales place across the Road from the Esso site told me they had a brief look at his site, but deemed it too small. I also heard a rumour they had been looking at the Total on Burnley Road before Spar came in. They have numerous Tesco Expresses which sell other companies fuel, but they are not all Esso sites.
