where do you keep yours?

Where do you keep your recycling bags/bin?
Wherever i put mine they end up making the kitchen look a mess-alot of my neighbours keep theirs outside but i couldn't touch them as the thought of accidently touching a slug is gross.so come on...where do you keep yours?:confused:

Keep ours outside. Inside just isn't an option. Not enough room and I wouldn't want all that old junk inside the house anyway.

Me when we got the blue (recycling bin) bin i bought another swing bin for the kitchen and with tippex marked on it recycling only and stuck above it the leaflet what you could put in it. When its full just take the binbag out and tip it into the blue bin outside. The little compost bin is stuck inbetween them. Papers gets thrown in a carrier bag and behind the back door.

My box is outside & yup i've beome a cropper with the slugs briefly lol the bags are hung in the kitchen.

Yup my daughters done that recently too & the box was outside & she decided to fling the box in a mood & caught her finger on the descreet sharp tin....teach her that arguing with blue box has its drawbacks like it bites back pmsl!!

I have not started recycling the tins...i recycle the paper,cardboard,glass jars and plastic bottles.
HC are going to read this and be onto me now lol.
But Jack does not seem to take an interest in the recycling bins anyway,which is strange because his into everything else as you will know seeing as Jack and E.K will be at the same stage, as they were born on the same day :D

We stll don't seem to have uniformity about where the tins go. We put our tins in the sack with the plastic bottles.

Paper recycling bag is on two hooks above floor level in the garage.....plastics in an old bin with a lid......again in the garage.......and the tins are also in a lidded bin in the garage. Mmm....wonder if I could charge the council rent for the space they occupy?

Luckily I have a shed, so that's the home for the box, and the sacks hang from hooks in there too.

I've no idea where it would go if I had to keep it inside. I'd probably cover the box in a nice tapestry material, and use it as a foot stool.:D

i have a bin inside that has all the recycling stuff in it all washed of course and when it gets full its the job of my 7 year old to sort into their correct containers and left outside until recycling day.

My white paper sack goes in my front room because paper is clean and doesn’t stink.
My blue sack for plastic bottle etc gets stuffed behind my kitchen door in a tiny cubby-hole and the plastic containers I put in there don’t really smell that much because most have lids/ caps.

My blue box is in my back yard and it stays there, with it being covered in green mould, slugs, spiders, rain water and cat pee I opted not to carry it through my home. Instead I collect my glass bottles etc in empty plastic tessco carrying bags and store them in my now redundant old black bustbin which I had kept and every now and then I take the full bags down to my local recycling site.

Have to keep mine in the kitchen, got nowhere else to keep em. If I put them outside they would get wet an filthy.

I keep mine in the cupboard under the stairs and that is the only reason that I was everything out before putting them in the box or blue sack :)

I used to keep the paper sack in the house until it got mucky and yucky on collection day, now it lives outside with the rest.

I keep mine in the blue bin next to my front door. By the way my front door is at the side of the house so it dont look messy when driving down our street.

My paper sack stays in the kitchen. Blue box is in the yard, & i've got an old style metal bin outside where i keep my blue sack.

GOT TO SAY I DONT RECYCLE ANYTHING (NEWSPAPERS ASIDE)IT GETS SLUNG IN ONE BIN BAG AND THEN IN THE BIG BLACK BIN WE HAVE...THE BLUE RECYCLING BOX WE HAVE IS USED TO COVER UP MY CAMPING GAS BOTTLE IN THE BACKYARD ITS NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM FOR 100'S OF YEARS SO WHY WORRY NOW :confused: :D ...doh caps lock on sorry....

blue box outside! gets emptied once a month now, cuz dont have many glass stuff, white bag inside in back room only gets emptied again once a month, dont buy papers much only observer so only have about 4 papers in the month:D , and blue bag also inside, it dont stink cuz i wash everything out!:D as for card board...goes straight in the bin!!:p

the various bags they sent got thrown in the nice and very roomy wheelie bin they provided and the blue box is tucked away with all my old vynil records and tapes in it :D

Thankyou for alerting me to this, i've always put my tins in the blue box (which i have in the back yard) so have just had a look on the calendar that we have and it says:

CANS: Empty and wash aluminium and tin cans. Put them in your Blue Sack with your plastic bottles (do not tie) You can now squash cans if you prefer.

But they dont seem to be bothering that we're putting them in the blue box. Problem is I have my blue bag in the kitchen and i dint really want tins in there, thats why I have my blue box in the yard.

HINTS AND TIPS - YOUR BLUE BOX, BLUE AND WHITE SACK

Use the WHITE SACK for waste paper only, i.e. newspapers, magazines, junk mail, yellow pages etc.
Do not put any domestic refuse, nappies, books into the sack as these can not be recycled. Take care when presenting your sack for collection to prevent problems of spillage and windblown paper.
Use the BLUE SACK for plastic bottles only, i.e. milk, shampoo, pop, washing-up plastic bottles etc and metal cans/tins and foil.
Do not put any domestic refuse, nappies, or plastic toys into the sack as these can not be recycled. Take care when presenting your sack for collection to prevent problems of spillage. Wherever possible, wedge the sack between other containers.
Use the blue box for glass jars and bottles only. Rinse debris from glass containers before putting them in the box. Wash out your box occasionally as this will help keep it clean
Use the green sack to recycle your clothes, bedding, curtains and footwear.
EVERY BODY GOT THAT? ;) GOOD!!:p

LOL at touching a slug... my neighbour upstairs keeps slugs lol. I stand on them by accident some times as he les them exercise *Poor phillip, when he comes down he finds them sleeping lol* :D

That was the first instruction we got but then at the beginning of this year it changed and we were told to put the cans in the blue sack with the plastic bottles and only put glass in the blue box.

Some councils now aren't allowing envelopes, which have the plastic windows, in the white sacks, as it contaminates the resulting recycled paper.

Soon they'll have us all actually recycling the stuff at home, making useful stuff out of papier mache.

I have a policy on this. If indoubt I just shred it so no one knows what is was :D.
I shred quite a bit of non sensitive paper work as well. I always think it will be harder to rebuild the little cross cut strips of bank statements etc if you have plenty of other paper shredded in there as well. A bit like mixing up many jigsaw puzzles and then trying to do them without the pictures from the box.

I have a blue box for the tins and glass jar ect.. and a bag for the news papers but to tell you the truth it is hard work to sort the things out but now if you dont you will get a fine off the council or they will tag your bin with a rader tag so watch what your doing

Blue box and blue sack live in the back yard;I hate slugs too but the kitchen isn't big enough for the box even if I wanted it in the house! Paper sack and cardboard live under the stairs;paper also gets shredded to make bedding for the guinea pig (KP to his friends because of his uncanny resemblance to Kevin Pietersen)
