How Lancastrian are you?

Hi folks, I'm conducting a survey into the wonderful Lancashire dialect and I need Lancashire speakers to help me by filling in a short online survey. It only takes a minute and you would be helping me no end!! You can find the survey at:

www.lancs.ac.uk/ug/harrism4/survey.html

Many thanks!!

Listened to both and don't think I particularly sound like either. Sorry.

Surely only having two sound clips is rather limiting your results? There are about ten different Lancashire accents on my street alone.

When I worked in the retail trade I could identify whether the customer was from Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley(dead easy) and other areas that you would not think had any dialectal differences.
I have filled in the online survey...but like Garinda I don't really think I sound like either of the sound clips.

Re: How Lancastrian are you?

I put no. 1 as I don't have the Lancashire rolling R - but I don't have a Lancashire accent; Northern inflections maybe (e.g. I say bath, not barth) but basically R P (blame parents, school, drama coaches and variety of locations lived in). I now live not very far South of Warrington but I'm glad to say neither I nor any of my children/grandchildren have a Warrington accent - it's awful.

This sounded like it was coming from someone who was trying to have a Lancashire accent, I got what you were saying but many people would not have done. Its a really weird gift I have, but I can actually tell if someone comes from Accy or Ossy!!! (If they bin brought up there!!)
