Urgent, can anyone help?

Guys/gals, Sparkie and I are in the s***..............the so called 'mate' that we employed to do up our house has apparently left the country for good leaving us with a half finished kitchen, a bathroom that is unusable as every time you turn on the hot water we get a major leak through the kitchen ceiling, and to top it all He was paid up front for the new central heating system to the tune of our last £3000 and f***** off to bloody Thailand with it

Are there any plumbers/ central heating installers on here that might be able to help us?

We do have access to more funds but Ill be honest ad say they are limited, were not looking for 'charity' though, just someone that will do the job and not rip us off.

If you know opr can recomend someone please pm me asap...........many thanks all.

Pete n Sarah

Sorry to hear about the bad luck you are having, Neil at DPG Plumbing and Heating is very good, and not too expensive either.

He is fully Corgi registered and dosn't charge for estimates. He advertises in the yellow pages, that's where I found him a couple of years ago and have used him ever since. His number is 07739 372 987.

Hope this helps

ukcowboy 28-11-2006 20:41

Thankyou Buttonsmum, I will give him a call tomorrow.

What a terrible situation Pete and Sarah! So sorry for your dilemma especially around the holidays and all. Any chance of getting the money back eventually through the courts? I'd make a joke about breaking your mates legs but you guys have probably thought worse eh? Chin up and good luck finding someone quickly!

Very sorry to hear about your predicament.

May I suggest that you make an official complaint to the police regarding your ex-friend. Perhaps if his mis-demeanour goes on record, he may be intercepted & have his collar felt next time he passes through customs, when returning to blighty!

maxwell silver 29-11-2006 18:37

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

First may i sympathise with you.But a bit of advice(a bit late now i know),never pay for any work until it's done & to your satisfaction.I know this bloke was supposed to be a mate & you could trust him(wich must make it worse),but 3 grand is a lot of money & as they say, every man has his price:(

spud 29-11-2006 21:09

The guy neil the plumber(DPG) is spot on, did some work recently for me. Very professional and very honest. GOOD LUCK BUD!

I think that's obvious maxell.
The bloke was a trusted friend of them, his actions could not have been predicted.

All the best Pete & Sarah, I hope all is sorted for you soon & that ****** gets his come-uppance.

Sorry to hear about your trouble Pete & Sarah. There really are some nasty people about.
It makes it even worse when you think they are friends.
What comes around goes around.
Hope it's sorted soon. xx

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

I may be able to help you out as I work with corgi plumbers/central heating guys...let me speak to them tomorrow but I do know that 99% are all booked just now as most decent plumbers are/will be...be wary of a plumber that can 'come round straight away'.....I shall get back to you.

ukcowboy 30-11-2006 17:43

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

I really dont know what to say, apart from thankyou to everyone who has answerd this thread/called my mobile and stopped me in the street to say how sorry they were................its at times like this you find out who your REAL mates are, so once again THANK YOU ALL.

As for reporting it to the police, I did do but was told that they couldnt get involved as it would be classed as a civil matter, and therefore I could go through the civil courts to get the cash back, however thier jurisdictio doesnt quite stretch to Thailand  !

Thanks for the recomendations as well, and Glasgowguy I have pmd you my mobile/home numbers mate, thanks!

I have managed to get a plumber to come and fix the leak, should be here in half an hour, so fingers crossed, but youre right every plumber and his mate are booked right up!!

Anyway I will keep you all posted as to how things pan out, and once again many many thanks.

Pete n Sarah

And your too nice a bloke to mention his name ? Not that most of us don't know anyways..

Cant see the supporters club getting there 100 quid (paid for ladies tooilet to be done up) back either.

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

How awful to be conned like that by a person you trusted. When it's someone you thought was a mate that makes it even worse. :( I'm glad to hear you got somebody to come round and sort out the leak and hope it won't be too long before you can get the rest fixed.

It's demoralising when the police can't do anything either isn't it? You'd think it was a crime wouldn't you, taking somebody's money and clearing off to Thailand with it.

entwisi 01-12-2006 07:48

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

If you think about it its a bit sad on two counts, firstly for UKcowboy but secondly that a person should effectively sell his friends and hometown for such a small amount of money(yes, I know 3K is a lot in one swoop but in the course of a lifetime its nowt) as he can't come back to it now.

KIPAX 01-12-2006 07:56

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

oh he definitely can't come back to accy. he was mates to a few of us and as far as we know has only does this to uk and sparkie.. whats strange is they probably did more for him and helped him more than anyone else..

But for me.. I know people thieve and I know there arn't many angels about.. some of my mates are rouges... But I wouldnt want to be mates with someone who could hurt a friend.. I would name and shame in a second on here.. but there maybe a reason ukcowboy hasnt and as he has been effected most then....

harwood red 01-12-2006 11:31

I'm still gobsmacked at this, especially after as kipax said pete and sarah did so much for this fella!!!!!!

ukcowboy 01-12-2006 13:48

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

I have no problems 'naming and shaming' the guy............most accyweb members will know him anyway.

I had totally forgoten about the Supporters Club giving him £100 to spruce up the ladies toilets at Stanley.

Yes Sparks and I did do a lot for him when he was homeless/potless, we gave him a roof over his head for 9 months or so and didnt charge him a penny in rent etc, coz we thought that was what 'mates' do......guess we were wrong huh!!?

Well BUDMAK ( AKA Michael Anthony Kenyon )should you ever decide to show your face in Accy again please do pop round for a chat:mad:

On a more positive note, thanks to Tommy,a local plumber, who came round last night and sorted out the leak at very short notice so at l;east we can now have a bath!!!!

KIPAX 01-12-2006 13:52

I follow his jib, I'm gutted that this has happened to you, more so at this time of year, for what I know of you, you are both very decent and likeable indivduals. |What this gentleman has done is an insult to all decent people, everwhere. I really hope that you find the right people to put things right.

I am suprised at the indivdual who perpetrated this act, more so if it's the one I think is responsible.

(I should have continued to read the thread before commenting)

Q: Was the work that was been done abroad genuine or not?

Glad to here that you've had a bath ahead of tomorrows game.....:)

to be honest Doug I dont know, I would like to think He had a modicum of decency in Him, and that the 'work abroad ' was for real. However on this showing I'm afraid I have my doubts.

******, Gutted because I'd like to think that in cases like this you can trust that what you gave is making a differance to peoples lives, more so when it's kids. I suppose we have to accept that there's always those that will explote such tragic events. can I ask, was their a relative lost over there are is that untrue?

ukcowboy 01-12-2006 14:42

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

Im afraid yet again I must say I have my doubts..................but deep inside I so hope that we werent 'conned' on that one again.

If someone could be so callous as to invent such a story then they are totally beyond any help any decent person could offer.

That said Doug, I could be doing the guy a mis service, however I suspect we shall never know.

Doug 01-12-2006 14:50

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

Cheer’s UK. Like you say, we can only hope. I have to say that aspect has upset me some what. Still we live and learn, at least we can only hope we do. Gutted on both counts.

KIPAX 01-12-2006 14:53

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

To be perfectly honest none of us know whats true or not... We have since found out he has multiple passports and driving licences..

He has sold his boat that he was supposedly living on.. his power tools and other odds and sodds on ebay... this and the timing he had with uk cowboy.. the day he had set to come back to petes to do more work was the same day he was going to thailand.. I thought maybe he had lost the money or somehting and couldnt face pete.. but it turns out that isn't possible.. it was all worked out :(

However the good money is on him not even going abroad..

The chances are he will be reading this thread at some point in time because no matter where he is.. he will have internet access and will be curious..

All I have to say is

Mike....A good old fiddle.. or doing an insurance scam or not repaying the provvy... I could live with knowing that.... But stealing from friends who have helped you.. how could you do that?

If your not sleeping at night. send the money back.. It wont make up for anything but you will at least know your not hurting people who went that extra mile for you. You know how to.. Do it soon..

ukcowboy 03-12-2006 15:34

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

Just an update, I was lucky enough to be given His new mobile number today, which is a thai number (so deffo out there).

He actually answered it as well......however I think he was extremely surprised at hearing me ask him if he was enjoying his time spending our money!!...............I did get something out of him though, I think he said 'oh f***'..........lol :D

Its stupid really, but I feel so much better just knowing that he knows that I know where he is!!.......Does that make sense?

I’d be careful, it maybe another con he’s set up. You might be paying £15.00 a minute or something.
You never know with this con man.

Re: Urgent, can anyone help?

well they say they come in 3's, and today number 2 came. Pete's had his Sat Nav nicked out of the cab of his wagon.

It was the only thing we bought with the money from our mortgage that wasn't spent on the house, debts or Budmaks thailand experience!!! Gutted isn't the word for it. The cops think they might know whos taken it but deep down I know we'll never see it again. Worse still it isn't covered on our house insurance as he was in a works vehicle. We'll just have to wait and see if the company he's working for will pay out for it or the agency he works for will pay for it which I very much doubt.

What the hells gonna be next?!

Just an update guys/gals.

Just heard from a 'very reliable' scource in Thailand, that Budmak is being sought by the Thai Police for FRAUD.........apparently His 'Help Rebuild Me' website/company was a con and He has taken money from THAI buisiness men since He's been out there!!

Now thats 'karma'........will keep all updated as news filters through.
