99% sure i'm moving to Accy now need to find a place to stay, can anyone help

Hi there

Been a member for a while, although havent been very active as i'm not from Lancashire nor even Accrington. However moving to the UK mainly for travelling across Europe and the British Isles.
Want to make Accrington my base camp, now all that is lacking is a place to stay. Currently in South Africa (i know the comments why exchange the hot weather for miserable weather but need a change of scenary for a while)
If anyone here know of places where i can find flatshares/ bedsits etc in the Accrington area, estate agents etc that I can contact. Have been trawling all the sites, but to no avail and lost the newspaper's online version that has rental sections available.

Thank you in advance for your assistance
:wave8:

All my friends and family think i'm mad as well, but its something i want to do and Accy is sort of central to all the places i want to visit and i want to get away from the family, lol, ther are driving me nuts a few thousand miles seems far enough.

It might be worth writing to all the estate agents locally and asking them to keep you informed. Having looked for a rental property on behalf of other people I should advise you though that you don't always get a very clear picture from the etstate agent's description. I've looked at houses in the paper or in agents' shops which seemed perfect but on seeing them in person they were anything but.

Would it be possible for you to stay in a hotel or B&B whilst you look for somewhere to rent?

Hi Willow the Whisp, am planning on staying a few days at a B&B to look around, plus asked a few mates to have a look out for me as well, but its expensive for me to stay in a b&b or hotel for longer than a week, got a very poor exchange rate to consider.

In a little over a month.More looking at sharing with someone, i dont see the sense in splurging on furniture except the bare minimum when i may only be in the UK for 6 months.

Well Accrington is almost central to the UK - in fact the exact centre of the British Isles is only 15 miles away at Dunsop Bridge - theres a gold telephone box in the village with a plaque that officially says so !!!

We were always taught at school that the centre of the mainland British Isles was at Dunsop Bridge.

I wonder with all the erosion, especially on the east coast, with many houses falling into the North sea, whether the centre has moved?

I've recalculated it and I think it is now in my backyard.:D

Maybe we should erect a plaque in Rindy's back yard now. We could invite PB to the grand unveiling. ;)
