Why Cow Ark?

Possibly a stupid question but there's a place near Foulridge called Cow Ark and I have often wondered why;(I know it's a dull thing to wonder about) Anyone any ideas....have googled it but just got shedloads of house prices for the area!

No idea how it got it's name but from what I can see it isn't near Foulridge. It's the other side of Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley.

Definitely Ribble Valley past Bashall Eaves. Some friends of ours used to live there.

I've just been told that it's officially in Bowland Forest and that there is a farm of that name. Now what came first?
