Re: Boneless Kippers
Not sure that you can Mancie, think its luck of the draw, may have a better chance at fish market though.
|
Re: Boneless Kippers
you can't, fish have bones, eat them and weep :D
or pay someone to chew all your food for you as they did in medieval times :D |
Re: Boneless Kippers
I know the feeling, 1 bone and all the rest goes in the bin, nothing worse

Re: Boneless Kippers
nope, you can get 'parts' of them without bones, not all them, fish are a bit different in physiology

Re: Boneless Kippers
It's the little hairy bones in kippers that are the worst. Evil things they are.

Re: Boneless Kippers
you will be hard pressed to find a boned kipper unfortunately
as the bones are too fine to remove without destroying the whole fillet (i know i tried it once ) |

Re: Boneless Kippers
Just been checking.. haddock is not a kipper.. I've tried haddock and it's very nice.. but I don't think it is classed as a Kipper.

Smoked Haddock is nice.... steamed and placed on a plate with slightley minted baby potatoes dressed in a coating of the finest butter... served with a salad of fresh rocket..fresh home grown tomatoes drizelled with a coating of olive oil mixed with lemon juice and a hint of mustard.. ummm

Re: Boneless Kippers
Kippers are smoked Mackerel, very tasty, there is a close relation in Arbroath smokies.
Smoked haddock and cod comes in two forms, teh artifical 'smoked' variety usually bright yellow in colour or the proper smoked stuff usually slight yellow/brown hint to it. The latter is fgar superior IMHO, lightly poached on mashed spud witha runny poacked egg on top! There is a stall that goes to Helmshore Farmers market that does smoked all sorts, prawns/marlin/black pud, you name it they smoke it |

Re: Boneless Kippers
I like kippers but its the bones and the stink afterwards that i dont like, and they dont seem to fill me up!
|
Re: Boneless Kippers
I love the taste of kippers, but those bones really put me off. I haven't eaten a kipper in years.
|
Re: Boneless Kippers
Yuk.....I can't stand kippers...the smell makes me want to do a big technicolour spit. I once went on hols with hubby and he ordered kippers for breakfast.......I had to ask the waiter to move me to another table on the far side of the dining room...the sight and the smell of them made me heave.
Finnan Haddock is only slightly better....in that it doesn't have its eyes on you. |
Re: Boneless Kippers
I do like kippers but yeah the smell, especially if you've microwaved them, lingers for hours.
