Stripper Required :)

The wallpaper variety ;)

I am stripping wallpaper and am FED-UP!!! Has anybody got one of those special machines that u use to make it all just drop off. If so, would anyone mind me using it for a couple of hours one afternoon this week please?

I will pick it up and drop it off, and of course promise to take good care of it.

If not, does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the job easier? I have tried soaking the walls with soapy water, but it doesnt seem to do anything.

You can hire them from Jewsons

Give them a call to find out how much. I'd lend you ours but it died on me the last time I used it and I haven't been bothered to see whats wrong with it yet

always worth investing in kisser, they are probably cheaper to buy than hire

Cheers for that Flashytart - I didnt realise they were so cheap. I will perservere for now as not got that much more to go, its only a small bathroom so I should stop being lazy!

Shillelagh - this is my first ever attempt at DIY so I had never even heard of "scoring". Someone pointed me in the direction of this website: http://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects...gwallpaper.htm which has been particularly helpful (thanks Timmins!).

I will carry on tomorrow, if anyone does have one of these fancy machines they are prepared to lend me, please get in touch as I reckon it would only take me an hour more. Thanks guys :)

Bother my dad, we have one, somewhere. :)

But before we got one of those, "slice" at the walls with the stripping knife, and then we put very hot (boiling I think) water on with a sponge and just scraped. Worked just as well really :p

Good luck Panther - its boring and hard work, but one of those steamers certainly makes the job a lot easier! Bathroom is now finished apparently - I cant wait to get home on Friday to see it lol. I feel like I had the hardest job stripping it and cant believe I paid someone to paint it!
