Re: new inns.....ossy

No the one up Fielding lane hasnt been pulled down its a house. Not the big one opposite next one up.When I was Taxiing I picked an elderly lady up who lived there and she showed me where they used to drop the barrels,it still has the drop and that old fashioned metal pully thing to lower them down with in her garden. The actual building if I remember rightly is called York Cottage now.:)

Its been up for ages. They've only put the board up recently. Its up for £75,000 freehold & contents. But I believe that has dropped from about £90,000.

Wasn't your Karaoke Lolly that closed the New Inns down .. complaints from neighbours and all that ??.... :D

Went in there couple of months back with another Accyweb member and his friend.. thought the atmsosphere was quite good actually 'til they all started beating the pulp out of each other . must admit though, not boring at all.:xena_bana
Bet the people living on that street are relieved as it did carry on outside the pub after they had thrown us all out.

Notice the Lamb Inn in Clayton appears to be all locked up too ? Don't know the story behind that one ?

there will be a lot more pub,s closeing now with this no smorking ban takeing place but like you say your self,s ossy going down ive lived here all my life iam just glad my mum and dad are not here because its hard work for the old foke nower days how thing,s have changed

Lolly 21-05-2007 09:50

Re: new inns.....ossy

It shut because the Landlady left her husband, she's the one with the licence and so the landlord could not open till he found someone with a licence. But is now saying she has to sign something for someone else to open on another licence. But I dont think this is true. And she has said she wants the pub and doesn't want him to open it.

We have not been paid for our finak weeks work, the owe me £200!!!! Their petty squabbling and bringing personal issues into their business life has left 6 people out of a job (although I've got a new one now) both of them are saying its up to the other one to pay us, stating that they have no money, yet they manage to turn up drinking in various pubs in Ossy!

I have spoke to ACAS the employment tribunal people and they have said that unless they are bankrupt, the will have to pay us, we can also go for loss of earnings, because the Landlord kept saying "we'll be open this weekend" so I held off from getting a new job for 4 weeks.

Pathetic lying people, my Mum had to buy everything for Harry for those 4weeks which i'm still paying her back!! But I love my new job, so it all turned out for the best, and I will take it as far as I possibly can to get my wage!!

Re: new inns.....ossy

I have ran pubs for over 10 years, and for someone to take the licence on from someone else they have to have the nlc or ncl and have police checks to get the licence, where they have to go to court and appear infront of a licence board to be granted one!

So someone who has their lience cant just go into a pub and take over unless its temp till they get the proper licence, think its six weeks after taking on the pub!

Been out of pubs for a few years so this may have changed now!

panther 21-05-2007 11:18

so all that dosh doing the yard was all a waste of money then?

So whats he going to do with the pub sell it!

Lolly 21-05-2007 13:14

Re: new inns.....ossy

I havent got a clue. Havent heard anything yet, all the furniture from the pub & beer garden is gone, and the bandits have been taken out. Dunno what he has done with the beer because there was a hell of a lot in the pub & cellar. I dont know if he'll be able to sell it yet, because I know she wants it, but its joint owned. So I suppose all that will happen in the divorce.

Only just seen this.

Yes, didn't we have a good night?

Was like being in a Keystone Cops movie, but with punches flying instead of custard pies.

It's actually the only fight I've seen whilst out socialising, anywhere, ever.

My friend in Spain still talks about it. Painting Ossy as some wild frontier town.

Entertaining though.

I do remember you not wanting to get into your cab.

Until you'd seen who the eventual victor was.

Happy times.

:):D:)

I asked about the York on another thread but didn't get a reply.

A good friend of mine lives there now and it is called York Cottage.
He has lived there all his life and his parents before him.
I thought it was the York Inn but was it the Duke of York and when did it close?

Hahaha - yeh, what a belting night that was (in more ways than one).

Wonder who came out best ? Think was a family dispute. It's at time like this, am grateful for my small family..:D
