Could you tell me how to get to Accrington from Manchester Airport?

I have never been in England. :confused:

Could you please tell me the way?

Buses numbered X40 And X41(or it might be 42) from Chorlton St bus station in Manchester centre, but explore Manchester first - a friendlier city than London.

Or you could get a train from the airport to Preston and change there for Accrington its the (Colne) train. platform 2 at Preston

You want Chorlton STREET bus station - dont end up in Chorlton district (a Manchester suburb)
PS - buses run from airport to city centre - just ask - the 'natives' are friendly

Very true Willow. I had no problem driving from Manchester to Accrington. However, I had a crappy Map Quest map of Accrington which didn't show the smaller streets. I found myself stopping "alot" to ask people where various streets were.

Since I have heard on here that some Accywebbers find it great fun to give wrong directions:rolleyes:, I was dropping a quid here and there for the info. Everyone I asked was very pleasant and I don't believe I was ever sent the wrong way! (that's not to say I didn't repeatedly find the wrong way. I couldn't for the life of me find Mez' house in the dark:confused::p)

People may not intentionally send you the wrong way but you do get people who don't know their left from their right or will tell you to turn down by where a pub used to be! When Busman first moved up here he couldn't get his head round people giving him directions based on landmarks which no longer exist or by the old names that pubs used to be known by 20 or 30 years ago. It put the tin lid on it one morning when the traffic report on Radio Lancashire announced delays and a traffic tailback due to roadworks on 'that roundabout near where Little Chef used to be.' :D

I gave him directions Saturday lunchtime and on Sunday at nearly midnight he says
"thanks I hope I'll get without many problems" :confused:

Would it not be possible for the person you are coming to see in Accrington to make arrangements to meet you at the airport ?

I presumed he was on a laptop at the airport - otherwise he would have had ample time to web browse for those pages I gave him for himself :o

follow the airport signs to the trans pennine station and it will take you directly to the railway platform,then get either a train to preston and change for platform 2 to get the colne (slow train) or scarborough or york train(faster) or you can get the liverpool train and change at bolton and blackburn and get train to accrington( a bit slower) but 4 pounds cheaper that going via preston,trust me i have done man airport to accy 5 times now, hope this is ok for you
