just made corned beef hash for richard and i noticed the tins of corned beef had ringpulls on them, the little feckers are darn hard to get off too, i hurt my wrist, anyone else noticed that? |
Re: how long ..........
Haven't had any corned beef for ages.
|
Re: how long ..........
me neither, these one's where princes, the corned beef hash tastes marvelous but my wrist is paying the price
|
Re: how long ..........
It cant be long ago because only last year I had to go to casualty for stitches from using the old type with a key
|
Re: how long ..........
I used to love that old style of tin with a key. Made corned beef fun! :D
|
Re: how long ..........
I don't think my hubby found it much fun when he nearly lost his thumb opening a tin a few years back, they still do tins with the key on, bought some at Asda the other day.
|
Re: how long ..........
this is princes corned beef though, maybe its just that company that does them
|
Re: how long ..........
The cheaper ones still have the key.
I quite like corned beef. Lovely on butties with a touch of brown sauce, or in a hash |
Re: how long ..........
Could be that it is just Prince who are doing them, think other companies should follow the example though loads of people must end up at casualty because of the other tins, they are dangerous.

Re: how long ..........

I've not seen a ring pull one.
|
Re: how long ..........
neither have I
As for them being dangerous... If you take care they don't hurt D |
Re: how long ..........
Try telling that to anybody who has been cut with one, i bet any nurse would tell you they can cause bad injuries. It is quite easy to lose your concentration whilst opening one. I have found that putting the tin in the fridge for a while before opening helps to avoid accidents.
|
Re: how long ..........
its easy to lose concentration?
Err, then you aren't paying attention which in a kitchen is dangerous |

Re: how long ..........
The 'danger' is all part of the fun. It's like Russian roulette, but with a tin based meat product, instead of a gun.
Just imagine the Deer Hunter.... it would have been twice as exciting if they'd have done that scene with corned beef. ;) |
Re: how long ..........
I do all the cooking and shopping in our house. I'm a qualified chef and I'm capable of taking my life in my hands and concentrating when opening a can. Does that answer your Q Bernadette? :D

Re: how long ..........
i hate those new opening cans i havn't mastered it yet (get the can opener out) but with the old style ive landed up in casualty a couple of times when opening them .....yes its a lot easier after the can has been in fridge .
