Take-aways to avoid...
Me and the OH decided to treat ourselves to a take-away tonight, we couldnt decide which one then we found a leaflet that had been delivered a few days back from 'FRESH', the one on Blackburn road.
Overall it was..........terrible. We paid £6 for a 'fresh special kebab' we asked for naan bread and got it on a pizza base  it mainly consisted of doner meat although advertised as containing chicken, lamb and doner.Wasn't much to it and to top it all we asked for garlic sauce and got MINT sauce instead  The 10" garlic bread with cheese was more like 6" shriveled, hard frisbee. So moral of story guys.................. DONT GO THERE. Any other take-aways to avoid in Accy??? Just my opinion btw. |

Re: Take-aways to avoid...
There was a time when I really recommended Slice From Heaven in Ossy but we went there on Thursday and it really wasn't up to much. They've changed the type of cheese that they use and it was very bland. Also they said the seafood pizza would have anchovies in it - they were mussels! I like my seafood pizza to contain tuna, prawns and anchovies on top - all the other stuff makes it chewy, plus it was all mixed into the cheese and not on top. Also, I specifically asked for no mushrooms on the mexican heat pizza but they put tons in so Chris had to take it back.
I don't know why they changed their recipe. In all fairness when he took it back they gave him a free garlic bread which was very tasty. |

Recommend, Amico, excellent pizzas
Express(b/burn rd) very good pizzas Chineese, Kwong Ming, b/burn rd the best chineese by far. Chippy, Sea breeze moscow mill st,bit dear but massive portions. AVOID... Rinos pizza Union rd ossy, very poor IMO. Avenue Parade chippy, warmed up chips, not good! Kings pizza shop b/burn rd, very poor indeed+old wilting discoloured salad. Sarahs cafe, top of india st. accy, the most overpriced badly made sandwiches I've ever had the misfortune of purchasing. |

Re: Take-aways to avoid...
Don't get takeaways very often but can recommend OMAR'S for really good food at reasonable prices. Free delivery after 5pm if your order is over £6 . The place is absolutely spotless.:D

Re: Take-aways to avoid...
We had a takeaway from Slice from Heaven in Ossy last night and it was very good. The garlic bread was nice and thin with plenty of garlic and we had tuna and mushroom pizza which was excellent. We'll definitely go again.:)

Re: Take-aways to avoid...
Actually, yes, following on from my earlier post about Slice From Heaven - although I'm no longer impressed with the pizzas, the garlic bread was really, really good.

Re: Take-aways to avoid...
In Ossy I like Pizza Palace, never had any problems going there. Cuisine World is good in town, their pizzas are fantastic!
I tend to try to stick to what I know. I'm not overly keen on Rinos. |
Re: Take-aways to avoid...
It is allways a good thing to warn other people, that there is someone out there attempting to sell goods that are not fit for consumption, or overpriced. Being poisoned and paying for the privilage is not a very nice thing to happen. Far better to prepare your own food, and not put your health in the hands of a profiteering poisoner.

Re: Take-aways to avoid...
I have just read on the Ev Telegraph site about this scheme for giving takeaways ratings for hygiene or lack of it.
Scores On The Doors Hyndburn hasn't joined the scheme - perhaps we should ask our councillors why not? |
Re: Take-aways to avoid...
probably because half of em will have to shut down!!

Re: Take-aways to avoid...
The State of Califonia - which has an obesity problem even worse than that of Hyndburn - is now considering shutting down and banning takeaways. I believe it was the first state to ban smoking in public places; nearly everyone else has now followed suit.
Imagine the impact, therefore, should the first act of the new Accy and Districts Council be to shut down all junk food outlets within its jurisdiction. It would show imagination - joined up government between a local authority and the NHS for instance - and would give maximum publicity to the area. The immeadiate impact on unemployemnt would be negligable (we all know that most "employees" of junk food shops also sign on) while in the longer term it would result in vast new inward investment into an authority getting its act togeather. |
