Artificial knee ?

Anyone on here had an artificial knee put in ?
My left knee is crocked and giving me so much pain at the moment I am considering the option ! I had it looked at diagnosed over 5 years ago and was told I needed a new one but was too young;- " Come back when you are 40 or if it starts affecting your ability to work " . Well both of these now apply and I was just wondering if anyone else had been in the same situation ??:(

I know someone who had their knee done several years ago, their opinion leave well alone, but methods will probably have improved, so go with what you think best.

id be surprised if you got a knee op or hip replaced

My Hubby Needs A New Knee After A Nasty Mway Crash, Anyway One Doctor Says He Is Too Young At 49 And The Other Doctor Says He Needs It While He Is Still Young.

Really don't think age should come into it, if you need it thar should be all that matters. I know a woman who had a hip replacement in her twenties and she she is fifty now still got same one!!

a friend of mine had both hips replaced in his late 40's some 10-15yrs ago had to have them replaced a couple of years ago........it's the job he was doing that caused the 2nd operation

Re: Artificial knee ?

Apparently the muscle that holds the knee cap in place on the inside of my knee isn't strong enough and the knee cap "wanders" across to the left and then instead of making contact with cartilage when I bend my leg it hits other bones ! Hence the pain and the horrible noises !
It has eased up a bit over the last 24 hours but I think I will go and bend my Doc's ear again !:o

I know a lady in her late 60s who had both knees replaced in two seperate operations done a couple of years apart. She had hers done because her natural kneecaps had worn out and when she moved it was just bone on bone and the pain was dreadful. She is much happier now and is glad she had it done.:)

If it is feeling easier it will only be a short term thing, once you are using it as normal you aill be back to square one. As you say you need to get onto your doctor again. Hope you get it sorted soon:D

Look Lindsay ... great strides have been made in knee replacements over the last 10 years. Go to the experts at Wrightington.. if you have to pay for a consulation, just do it ... right !! DO NOT even bother with Blackburn.
