Rishton Res

Wheres all the water gone from Rishton Res?

Didn't think we'd had drought conditions so why is the water level in Riston Res so low, is it climate change again?

It is used to top up the canal so if there is a leak on the canal the water in the res is low.

Yes that's true it is a feeder for the Locks at Bennington St Blacburn, each time a lock empties in excess of 90,000 gallons of water go out to sea eventually at Scarisbrick. This Summer traffic has been prety busy, It shuts in October so the 'res' will soon fill again, and the sluce will open again.;)

It's the big one forsure, thesmall one if it is the one I think that's the paper mill lodge.
There are 2 parts to the canal feeder in question, the small part on theRailway side is where the Bream go to spawn,it is fed by the Lidget Brook. If you fish the Park side in early season the Bream go to rid themselves of lice, on the sandy bottom.
