Where??

Where can I get one of those " NO COLD CALLER " signs for my door from??

I'm sick to death at the moment, every tea time same thing ...

Knock on door " do you want to change Electric/gas/phone supplier "

I am not usually a nasty person!! but one fella got the bad end of me yesterday!!

He had called round and I told my son to answer door and tell him I was busy on the phone.

10 minutes later he came back!! so I went door and said " No I am not interested " .......... he said " but, but, but " I just said " Look no But's or if's I am not bloody interested in any fantastic deals you say you can do " and shut the door on him!! He was from Scottish Electricity

Please tell me where I can get one from, then if they call, I will slam their bloody head into the sign so they can have a closer look!!

Got mine from the community beat warden in a pack from a community fun day a few years back - still the darn door sellers dont bother to read or ignore 'em so usually they get the sharp rant of 'cant u read the sign - pee off'! Otherwise contact trading standards & see if they do them.

Well he got the gist of my mood yesterday, what part of " NO " do the numpties not understand??

if I wanted to change Phone/Electric/Gas/windows or have Life insurance and health insurance I would go in the cupboard, take out the yellow pages, look through the index, find number, get the phone, push the little bloody buttons and CHANGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE  god they wind me up

Scottish Power were at my door yesterday too. I am a Scottish Power customer already, so that makes me think that these callers are NOT representing the company, but are likely to be opportunist thieves.
A campaign against it starts soon in Blackburn

they think they are doing you a favour by calling at your home, but they are nout but annoying, i know how you feel, i get loads asking me if i wanna buy my home, it doesnt matter how many times ive told them i cant buy it its not for sale, but they tell me to have a try anyway, think they have to have a certain amount of people on their books or they get the sack

I'm fed of those as well. If it's not them then it's have you had an accident. " No"
Then they come back with.
" Are you sure."
Erm think I'd know if I'd had an accident or not.

I have reported the caller I had to scottish Power, and said if they are responsible for such calls, the practice is bringing their business into disrepute

Brilliant! I figured out "Cold Caller" all by myself.

I made one myself for junk mail: "What Part of No F***ing Junk Mail Do You Morons Not Understand." It didn't do any good but it looks great. I also have a picture of my Rotti with the legend "I Live Here". This discourages most unwanted callers. And when I say "Hera, JWs" she runs to the door and puts on her fierce act.

Re: Where??

My daughter/Brown Owl works for Scottish Power, formerly MANWEB, in the office at Warrington. She thinks all the salesmen should be shot!

I made my own sticker, printed it off in very large red letters and stuck it on the porch door. It says,
NO Salesmen, Reps, Lottery canvassers, Random charity collectors. If we haven't got it - we don't want it.
On the odd occasion when one of the above still rings my doorbell I don't say anything, hand them a bundle of junk mail, leaflets etc., which tends to accumulate in the porch, and shut the door. ;)

Re: Where??

Just complained by email to trading standards because their sign they gave me just DOESN'T WORK, i get them regardless & sick of pointing out the obvious all the time & i dont want to get to the point of not answering door to anyone [sometimes council & other people that call at the door] - not all door sales people have same dress code as found out earlier today from a very dodgey looking person from safe style today caught me out after seeing off my collector, whom resembled someone i knew whom isnt very nice, so just tad annoyed about the risk, cos doubt these sales people are vetted!!

What does it take these people to get the word no & fluff off!!! Personally door sales should be illegal or least criminal cos i felt a bit intimidated & off guard on my own, thats the worry for elderly or vunerable folk:mad:

Re: Where??

MY god, how weird, Stanleymad posts this, and I get some at the door

They were from a window company, don't know which one, I didn't give them chance to tell me. 2 not so professional looking guys. I just said " No thank you " and shut the door.

The thing is, I always feel ignorant, but if you don't shut the door in their face, you can't get rid of the buggers.

Well I'm just glad I shut the door straight away now.:(

I got pestered last week by a sneaky looking bloke wanting to service my hoover. I always keep my door chain on, so didn't feel threatened.
The patter was 'I think I missed servicing yours last year - do you want it doing now?' My reply 'No and dont call next year either'

PS I keep a shrill alarm by the door too

Got my reply from trading standards a bit of disconcerned reply but tried:(

Further to your enquiry to this Department regarding the continual calling
of doorstep sellers.

I must advise you that such sellers are entitled to call at your door, and
are not necessarily committing any offences in doing so.

This Department discourages consumers from doing any kind of business on
their doorstep, and I would applaud you in turning away callers, or refusing
to answer the door.

If you feel in any way threatened or intimidated by a doorsatep caller
please do not hesitate to call 999, as the Police are committed to assisting
Trading Standards with this kind of nuisance.

Thank you for your enquiry

Run a hose pipe through the house ..... that way you just need to poke it through the door :D

If you do it from up stairs, use something better than water ;):D

When I lived in Church I used to clear lads off the garage roofs in the back street by using a pressure washer.

This didn't deter them because they eventually burnt down both garages.

I didnt have my pressure washer handy at the time of the fires - was glad to see the end of those garages (knew there were no cars in them at the time)
