I've got the answer!

All you need to do is pretend to be a piece of furniture and stick some of this on yourself!

OR, you could do what some of my American friends do and have the poor moggy de-clawed.

Are you touching the cat's belly when you stroke her, Less? A lot of cats won't tolerate that as it's their most vulnerable spot.

Well Willow, I had a go at your suggestion but had to give up there was a lot more blood than I could cope with and the howls of pain were just unbearable!
