Legal Bonfires
 

Where do we stand on having a communal bonfire?

There are a few families in my area (Woodnook) want to get together and have a sensible bonfire but where and is it legal just to start a blaze? there is a large piece of deralict land near my house but i don't want to get in trouble we want to do it right and put on a really enjoyable night for the kids.

Can anyone give me any advice or know where i can go to find out where we stand?

Contact the local fire station for details they will be able to help & advise no problems:D

LOL no problems they are really helpful [some hunky but shhhh:o] but they are best to advise knowing the area & whether its safe enough, plus if you do have one they are well aware too should there be any problems or kill joys & give you tips on a happy safe controlled bonfire:thumbsup:

The numpties next door to us light one the other year and the fire brigade came and put it out. Having said that our houses to back onto Accy Con Club and the fire was dangerous. So always best to get advice with the added bonus of hunky firemen!!!

You are allowed a bonfire i believe aslong as the fire brigade know there is one going to be there.

I heard a little story when back in Church over the weekend. A few people are organising a bonfire with a difference. Insread of a Guy going on top of the woodpile, there is going to be a caravan - scaled down size, of course. Still, its the thought that counts. I think its a splendid idea.

You need to ask permission from the owners of the land if you can hold a bonfire there. You also are not allowed to burn certain items on it. An arranged bonfire - you need people to act as stewards to stop people getting close to the bonfire and if you are having fireworks a person with a licence to set them off.

been in touch with fire brigade, too much hard work for a wee bonfire we're just joining the rest at accrington cricket club, much safer and less hassle!!! thanx for all your posts though xx

Take it they advised not to because of safety implications tracy ????
