Where Would We Be Without Computers?

I never dreamt I would be asking a question about computers but would be lost without it now. So how would we manage without them?????

We would manage without them just like we did before we had them, it just wouldn't be so easy. I find my pc invaluable these days for shopping, banking, contacting friends/family etc. but I remember 25 years ago when computers were only just being introduced in offices, let alone homes.

My husband was a hardware/software engineer/consultant and he kept offering to give me a short course on computing. I was quite sure I'd never cope and kept putting him off. A couple of years later the Civil Service started to go computerised and I had no choice. Now, nearly everyone has one at home and tiny children use them with ease, it makes you wonder what we'll have in another 25 years. (In my case, probably a zimmer! :D)

My grandchidren are more computer literate than me (that doesn't take much doing) but it does make you think. Not long ago we were writing letters to relatives living abroad and you could never guarantee how long they would take to get there. Now we just e-mail them and know that the next time they go on their computer it will be there waiting for them to read.

Our router is on its last legs I think and I'm spending a lot of time finding out what it's like without the internet. I feel so cut off! I know I should be spending more time sorting my files out, doing my graphic designs and generally tidying up my desktop - maybe the router is trying to tell me something. I still have some ironing to do too! :D

I would be lost!!

There are too many things that you can do over the internet.

They certainly make life easier.

Living without ebay would be a crime in itself :D

I also don't have much of a grasp as to how they all work and all. However, in many ways my life would be a bit simpler but must agree with Cashy, incredibly helpful for doing research stuff.

And folks, don't wish to cause too many tears but no computers, :(:(:(no knowledge of this dear old soul you've all come to know and love!:(:(:(

(Wait, if that be the case, I wouldn't have gotten to know many of you . . . hmmm . . . I must think on the advantages of not knowing a couple of Accywebbers!:p:p):Banane13::Banane13::Ba nane13::Banane13: Yup, life would be all kinds of upside down without you guys!
