Do you really get what you pay for?

Do you believe that you get what you say for and that named products are better made? Or do you think the products are just overpriced versions of a near identical product? All opinions welcome. Thought this might make an interesting discussion.

I have always found that paying more for footwear has paid off.

good question Speedy, sometimes brand names are best, sometimes they aint,i tend to seek out people with knowledge about a particular item first before i buy, take no notice of the "commision vultures" in the store, find out who knows the S.P. is my advice.;)

I work for a gas company, and we install one make of boiler, (and are approved by the manufacturer), in boiler terms, yes you get what you pay for, but cheap or incorrect model can cost you dear, so the installer is just as important as the purchase.

So if you compared similar models which is the best boiler between Baxi, Potterton or the cheaper make Main. Is the more expensive Potterton Gold really a better quality boiler than the not Gold version?

I always buy branded electrical goods, tvs, dvd players, stereos and that sort of thing. Footwear i normally get brands aswell. But as for food and clothes i dont really mind buying 'cheap' stuff.

The Potterton gold is the most efficient, not the most reliable or best quality, potterton and main are both owned by baxi, Worcester Bosch and Vaillant are the best by a fair way. Most important is the guarantee (5 years on WB if fitted by approved people) and the cleaning of the system which should take about 4 hours.

Well ive mixed views on this , IMO it all depends on the individual
Clothes ,well george asda is good quality to me .
