Re: wheelie bins
I made enquiries about getting another bin when my daughter was in nappies. Like you, we were having to make a trip to the tip in between collections.
I was informed that they do not give people a second bin but that they can issue a larger bin. Unfortunately these are for families of more than 5 people. |
Re: wheelie bins
will we count as a family of 5 with the babies only coming half the week?

Re: wheelie bins
Does the council no longer do the recycling thing for nappies, where for a cost they collect the nappy waste?

I think the way that worked was that you used re-usable nappies and they were collected, washed and re-delivered to you. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. :D There is no way of recycling disposable nappies. |
Re: wheelie bins
well we have two, and theres only three of us that live in the house........... we robbed the 2nd one haha :D

Except that the person whose bin was stolen may well have had to fork out for a new one. :( |

ya get it free if you need a replacement, but the second time ya have to pay:( |
Re: wheelie bins
you also have to report it to the police and get a crime reference number before you can have a new one....

Re: wheelie bins
i doubt they do anything about it, sure it would have been in the paper if anyone had been arrested for stealing a wheelie bin :rofl38:

1. The bins are tagged so they will know who you stole one off. I am not sure if it can really be classed as stealing anyway. Maybe more like inappropriate use of Council property ;) 2. I would never agree to pay for a wheelie bin unless I had incorrectly used it. It is not my bin it belongs to Hyndburn Borough Council. I use it as they instructed, out by 7am or the night before and back in on collection day. If someone want's to steal HBC's bin while I am following HBC's instructions then how can it be my fault? |
Re: wheelie bins
are they tagged???? where is it, what is it for?
|
Re: wheelie bins
I'm suprised that no-one in Hyndburn has come up with the idea of a neighbourhood rubbish offset scheme, similar to the carbon offset schemes which now appear to be everywhere.
All you do is find a neighbour who not a bone idler, who does not waste time and money buying tons of packaged thrash from Asda and is prepared to accept all your rubbish in his/her otherwise empty wheelie bin, and in return you pay 'em dosh - say ten quid a week. The solution is simple when you know how. |

Re: wheelie bins
It's a pity the paper sacks aren't tagged. We never get ours back. I'm fed up of having to keep going to the town hall for a new one.
