suspicious Mind?
Once a month I have to visit my Doctor & once a month he gives me a prescription. No problem there I hear you say and I agree, the fact that a standard pack of one tablets is 30 and a standard pack of pills is 28 so nothing lines up, I have a surplus of one or a shortage of the other.
Today I took my prescription to the Chemists, left it called back an hour later. Attached to the bag was an I.O.U. The Chemist had run out of one of my items. It was One pill short, sorry about that said the Pharmacist but I'll let you have the other one if you take the bother to call in, after all it's only one tablet. This particular medication comes in bubble packs of 28, when I opened the container there where 26 on one strip and a neatly placed 1 that had been cut off the strip. Now, from reading about my medication, (isn't the web wonderful), these drugs can be bought on the black market at a very good mark up to enhance a night out. So, if I and 27 other people don't bother to call for the one missing tablet someone has a very profitable packet of tablets to sell on. Sorry it's taken so long but here are some questions, Do I just forget about the missing tablet? Do I call in for the tablet? Do I mention this to the authorities? Do these Chemists have some sort of quality control system that needs them to take one tablet from a random packet and test it to ensure there is no forgery etc? |
Re: suspicious Mind?
Now u have advertised the fact Less im sure a lot of people may test that theory out for u, & not suggesting accyweb members are suspicious - but theres google or offliners :D

Re: suspicious Mind?
But what do you do on the day when you don't have a tablet to take?
I've got a problem with these packs of 28 because my doctor's surgery says we are only allowed to order them once a month but 28 days is not a month. |
Re: suspicious Mind?
Did the chemist give you one of those receipt things saying you are owed medication ? I imagine they must have to answer to someone about their medication quotas, don’t think many people would call in to pick up a single pill though.

Good grief, I could do a pretty good job myself back in the 90's with a bog standard cash register, there just wasn't anything worth taking the risk for! |
Re: suspicious Mind?
I dont see how they can tamper with your medication like that. Why was a tablet cut off the strip in the first place? Surely they cant prescribe a single tablet to someone and if they needed the drug for testing they surely can request a single tablet rather than tamper with medication that is to be prescribed?
I'd actually go and ask another chemist personally about whether its ok to do that, and if your still not sure then ask your doctor next time you see him/her. |
Re: suspicious Mind?
The best way to deal with it going forward is to only budget what profit you will make off the 27 you get :D

I am not asking you the questions, i am simply toying with the questions that one would think of in this situation. I am not a fan of any medication personally, so I dont bother with the doctor, so i dont know policy on tablets and if they can be cut off the strip like that. |

Re: suspicious Mind?
Now lets see if I can help a bit, and I stand to be corrected too, but think it may work like this;
1/ Bureaucats can only work the month out as (7 days x 4 weeks = 28 days) so therefore a month is 28 days. 2/ Yes pills can be split to make up shortfall on someone else's script, hence the IOU. 3/ If you ask the pharmacist they will explain it to you as to why they have had to do it that way. 4/ Ask your Dr to state the number of tablets and that is what you will be given, this helps where 1 type is 28 and another is 30, and if you can do it so that every 4 weeks you need new script ask for the 30 to be reduced to 28 saves you having the extra at end of month. Have replied with a bit of cheek but hope you find some of the info above helpful. |
Re: suspicious Mind?
Please don't encourage Less, he already knows the answer to his own question.
He is just letting you lot waste your time answering him ;) :D |
