A recent partnership breakdown used to give you a high score on the council house points list. -not sure whether Hyndburn Homes operate the same points system. but it might be worth looking into

Hyndburn would put you in the hostel at huncoat, the waiting list is endless and you would have to hound them to death, sorry to hear about your predicament emmamum, hope you get sorted quickly (preferably with your fella if appropriate).

When I was at DHSS I used to dish out loads a money to furnish houses - I think that some of the financial help was replaced by loans after I left - but help is still there

I visited women in that hostel when it first opened up. You will have your own room and use of a communal lounge and kitchen.
Better than being overcrowded with relatives, and since you will be technically homeless you will go straight to the top of the housing list

Re: house needed asap

that sounds ok... my lad is staying with my grandad until tomorro but he lives over near burnley and there is no way to get my lad to school in accrington.... might try the hostel, how do i get hold of them?

flashy 31-12-2007 16:28

Re: house needed asap

if she goes down to the council they will accomodate her, they will put her on income support and give her some money to tide her over, unfortunately you cant always pick and choose where they put you, you'll just have to do with what you get for the time being

Re: house needed asap

Go for a shelter specifically for women and children if you can, and whoever it was was right in suggesting contacting maundy grange, they try really hard and will make sure you have somewhere suitable to stay. General homeless shelters might not be the best place to take a child, in my opinion.

Re: house needed asap

theres one in accrington, cant remember for the life of me what its called, but a friend of mine moved in their with 2 kids and a baby. It wasnt great but wasnt bad either. Hyndburn council put people up in there on an emergency type of thing, and it took about 6 weeks to get a 3 bed house for them.
