I am sad to say I had to cheat! My other half will only have chicken or pork given choices, my preference is lamb or beef, as I do the cooking, i talked her into a roast on Sunday (chicken), so now I can have a lamb dinner! :)

Re: new year dinner?

I have a leg of pork roasting in the oven at the moment.....the crackling is just starting to go crisp and brown. With some roast spuds, cauli and steamed carrots...not forgetting the stuffing and apple sauce......I was going to do a trifle, but my hips don't need the extra width.

Well, Panther, after having seven people to look after plus myself over the last 11 days, at varying stages .. and wow ! .. not one take away in site (can't believe I managed that!), I have now got the evening to myself. Am taking the lazy option and going to have an Asda micro-wave chicken in black bean sauce with the usual accompaniments, rice, couple glasses of wine :D etc.

Settle down to watch telly, hardly seen any over Christmas, due to son bringing over his new Xbox and hogging it ... except just looked at what is on .. nowt really ... :(

Don't know how going to get my sleep pattern turned around to decent hours, not looking forward to the sound of the alarm in the morning at 6.20 a.m. Ne'er mind though, eh ? Gotta be done.

Mum made a great dinner for New Year's day.

Bruschetta.

Sea-food salad.

Roast lamb, with mashed and roast potatos, roast parsnips, carrots, and peas.

Pavlova.

Cheese and fruit.

Followed by us looking through a chest of old photographs, and explaing to the children that the people in the photographs were their great, great, great, great grandparents.

A lovely day.:)

My bro came for tea and shared my roast chicken, hasselbank spuds, roast cherry tomatoes, roast peppers, roast courgettes, roast onions, stuffing and gravy. Then instead of the raspberry thing i got from m&s had a lemon dessert with fresh cream on top (from M&S again i love their deserts). Then he went home to watch coast cos hes not feeling well - he says its man flu!
