The big 30...for all those who have been there.

I'm going to be 30 this year.

I've got a couple of ideas on how to mark this momentous occasion but nothing definite yet.

For all those born before 1978.....how did you celebrate your 30th birthday? :D

Let me think, .....Can't remember, sign of a good night probably (and the fact that it's a couple of years ago) :D:D

i cant for the life in me remember what i did for my 30th, i'm 32 in a few weeks, so obviously when you hit 30 your mind starts going ;)

Margaret Pilkington 01-01-2008 19:45

Re: The big 30...for all those who have been there.

I cried......for about two days. I thought my life was over......daft bird, the good bits were still in the box waiting to be unwrapped.
I was more upset about being 30 than I was about turning 60.....yeah, i know I am really an old baggage now.
Getting older is liberating......I have found I don't have to accept things that I don't like.
I know who I am, I make no apologies for being who I am, and if folk don't like it then it is their problem not mine.
I don't have to impress anybody....I'm comfortable in my own skin(whatever that means).

'78'? I'd started going clubbing then...as an old looking thirteen year old.

Whatever you decide to do, enjoy it. Your thirties are a blast, and in no time at all you'll be posting on here about how you shold celebrate your fortieth.:D

I woke up the day of my 30th to find my friend and my Mum had pinned baby photo's of me on all the lamp-posts on the street..... Then spent most of the day with 'Flasher'Tart.....she climbed a fence and got her top caught on the climb down......enough said!!!!:D

There is an advantage to being 30
People stop telling you to grow up and just accept that you are eccentric

Age is all relative. It's just a number taken from the Christian calendar, mixed in with how many times the earth's gone round the sun.

I know miserable acting teenagers, and people in their eighties who are as daft as a brush, and enjoy every minute of the day.

The most important thing, irrespective of the number of years you've been on this planet, is to enjoy life...because it's so precious, and we only have it on loan.

You are spot on with that observation Gary....and I've just realized my daughter will be 40 this year. Goodness, how time flies, it doesn't seem two minutes since she was going to school.

You're right there. I get moments when I can't believe I'm going to be 30, I have to keep reminding myself. I still think I'm 22 LOL. :D

I remember looking at people who were 30 when I was about 17 and thinking that they were so old but like you say it's all relative.

My young children think I'm ancient and love pointing out to me the fact that I was born last century
I have been asked by them if I remember the war, if I knew Jesus when I was younger, and if I have ever seen a dinosaur in Oswaldtwistle!

Never mind though, my parents, who are in their 50s, think I'm a young whippersnapper.

Also, sadly, there are many who were not so lucky as to reach 30 so having this birthday really is something to be glad about. :D

I too wanna make my 30th a night to remember!
Am 27 now, so will keep an eye out on these posts for any pointers:D

I am thinking along the lines of hiring a Pink Dodge Ram, maybe going to a monster truck show, demolition derby

I can't remember what I did but I think I too was probably in Ireland. In which case I was probably at a dance hall called the Kon Tiki.

Firstly, I convinced a few people they were mistaken and that I was only 29!
Secondly, I moved all the goalposts I set myself to achieve by the age of 30 to 40!
Lastly, I went to New York and had a big spending splurge!

I can't remember what I did. I know it involved a night out and several alcoholic beverages but I honestly can't remember where we went. I am now planning my 40th this year, in New Zealand. I remember being devastated when I turned 30 but it has been a seriously good decade..:D

Only mentioned this today Lilly .. how often children have asked similar questions :D and me lot older than you, so questions to me have been almost back to the Big Bang !!

Don't think anything special for my 30th... didn't particularly celebrate decades in 'my day' .. what am I talking about !! THESE ARE MY DAYS ..

One thing I will say is that they are the best years for a woman .... you are at your best gal .. more mature, assertive, confident, charismatic and SEXY !! Older men fancy you because of these attributes and also younger men because you are attractive to them as an older woman that can show them the ways of the world .. :D So do not mourn the passing of your 20's, enjoy the forthcoming decade ..... :)

I enjoyed my 40s most- began it by crossing the dance floor of the New Inns with a pint balanced on my head - didn't spill a drop
