reading the red elastic bands prompted this,:) outside the arndale on the wall used to be a container for yer fags, this was put there when smoking was banned,fair enough, now for some strange reason it has been removed, so everyone still smokes outside, but throws the fagend on the floor, is this not bloody stupid? all people didn,t use it, but i did cos it was there. how the hell do they expect people to be tidy when they do this?:rolleyes:

As far as I know, it's the only designated public ashtray in Accy.

Shame that when Broadway was recently expensively refurbished, they didn't incorporate ashtrays into the litter bins, as they have in many other towns and cities.

I do put my docked ciggy in the bin, but if it then sets on fire, so be it, at least they can't fine me for dropping it in the gutter.:D

why on earth dont the council incorperate the litter bins with these, it would encourage people n be summat sensible, which i know is alien to em.:rolleyes:

the ashtrays were taken away when the ban started now theres ashtrays at the bus station next to the market on the bins but thats all i can find

Yeah , the ashtrays where taken a week before the ban, people uses normal bins to put fags in, now the bins look a mess all with burn marks.
But the thing is that if you get caught throwing a fag on floor you can get a fine of £80 but then yet when u are actually damaging property like the bins they dont say anything, i think is hilarious

Don't know why some towns have taken away their ashtrays Cashy, they must have their reasons .. will try and ask the question through their site.
Manchester centre haven't had them for ages now, nor Burnley.
Blackburn still have them in the centre with a warning above about discarding cigarette ends on the pavement, which is pretty decent of them I think.

That's why I have now taken to carrying one of those little portable ash trays around with me. 'Course I keep it in my handbag .. don't know where you would keep Cashy ... :D

I have one of those portable ashtrays, but it has a nasty habit of bursting open in my handbag :(

I have one like that Margaret ... but have got another which has a tighter lid, little gold number got from Ossy Mills .. £2. Have some with pretty flowers on too.

i have nowhere to keep one n wouldn,t when the solution is in the councils hands, also think it would be a good thing for pubs with no smoking areas anywhere to have one on the outside wall,i put em in litter bins where possible,which as others have said is stupid, but no risk of a fine. if the council wish to fine me, it will be for more than dropping a fag end.:D
