A 9 Yr Old's Birthday Makeover in Accy?

It's my daughter's 9th birthday in March, aswell as her presents, I wanted to take her and her best friend to a hair/nail salon to experience loads of pampering!

Hair cut/style, manicure, nail polish and mini makeover.

Only problem is, I can only think of 1 place that does nails and hair in the same salon (Urban Thingy) Sorry, dunno if I'm allowed to name it.
Anyway, I got a quote off them this aft, not sure if it's reasonable or not, not too sure what I was expecting it to be to be honest. £60-00 I got quoted from them.

Looked on yell.com rang a couple of others but they don't do nails, or it's just a nail salon and not a hairdressers.

Wondered if any of you had any idea of any others, would have to be in Accrington as I don't drive

Thanks in advance
Michelle

i would of thought 60 pound was about reasonable for your daughter and her friend.

Seeing as you pay £25 + for a set of gel nails I would settle for the £60 option.

This is my daughter after her makeup sleepover party last year
Does she look like a tart?
Teaching a young lady that it is nice to want to look nice is perfectly normal, just like teaching them to brush their hair and wash properly

i didnt mean tart in the context you have taken it !!! sorry if it came accross that way !!!....:foryou:..........i meant do-up, doll-up, put make-up onto i just dont understand it at such a young age ..imo

Re: A 9 Yr Old's Birthday Makeover in Accy?

It will happen anyway, regardless of if I encourage it or not.
I would just rather her be shown to do it the right way, instead of really looking like a "tart"

Well I have received another quote from The Salon at the top of Burnley Rd
An extremley reasonable quote
And the 2 ladies I spoke to actually seemed keen and excited for the girls to be going there
Anybody tried this salon yet?

I dont know which salon you mean, there's nothing wrong with young girls wanting their hair, nails make up done etc, I struggle to keep my 5 yr old out of my make up bag, shoes, jewellery, handbags etc

AccyLass 18-01-2008 20:35

Re: A 9 Yr Old's Birthday Makeover in Accy?

Yeah, I love all the girly stuff too:)
It's all bonding time too
With her being nearly 9 and me having a 3 yr old, it's not right often we get time on our own, so we'll all enjoy it

Yeah, I will for sure
As I said before, I haven't met the staff yet and they already seemed keen and excited for the girls
Which to me is a good start

9 year olds with nail polish, manicure and makeover? No wonder Paedophiles are on the rampage.

This is 6 year old beauty queen, Jonbenet Ramsey.

http://www.cbc.ca/gfx/images/news/ph...p-10285270.jpg

I quite agree that children caked in make-up and wearing clothes that are much too old for them are a paedophile's paradise.

However, I'm sure that AccyLass isn't going to let her daughter go to these lengths. There's nothing wrong with girls having their nails done.

Of course they are sick...but they are not exactly going to get cured while supposidly responsible adults encourage their children to dress and look like grown-ups.

If they are not cured, then they should not be out!
But that is a totally different discussion

Nothing has been mentioned in this thread about "dressing grown up"
My daughter dresses like every other 9 yr old
She is getting a "treat" for her birthday

1 of the reasons for teaching my daughter about make up and having nice nails and hair and such like is then she doesn't think it's right or feel the need to get "caked" in make up.

If I was to think about these paedophiles in every decision I make about my children, then they would not step foot out of the house, would they

Since when can sexuality be cured. Didn't some christians try and do that with homosexuality?

Anyway, I think its good to let young girls go to salons and have their nails done and their hair cut, thats NORMAL. What ISN'T normal is the very America child pageant thing that goes over the top with make-up and clothes on little girls.

However, I don't believe it will encourage paedophiles more either, as paedophiles are generally attracted to children and making children look like adults surely would put them off if anything?

Saying that lesbians often go for women who look like blokes and gay people often act overly feminine so who knows, maybe you're right!

Having your nails done hardly converts you into a little tart does it? That's as ridiculous as people who say girls who get raped 'ask for it' with the way they dress. Not fair at all.

They look lovely, I since found out that they do beauty days for youngsters in the parlour just at the bottom of my road, though it doesnt really do hair so I guess it'd be more a nails and perhaps facial thing? I think it's a good idea and looks fun.

You best watch her for stealing all your make up now!
