If he likes ''solving games, the Brain Train games are great for DS.

It's suitable for ages 3+, all our family play it young & older. The games are fun and not too advanced.

You get new games & questions every day as it's daily training so yes there would be the same stuff on in one day but there's other stuff to do on it like Sudoku until the next day.

Here's a couple of links panther:

Amazon.co.uk: Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? (Nintendo DS): PC & Video Games

Amazon.co.uk: More Brain Training (Nintendo DS): PC & Video Games

Re: nintendo DS

Of the two there I'd recommend More Brain Training. This is because the games have parts where voice and handwriting recognition are integral and in 'More Brain Training', this feature is an improvement on the original game's ability to recognise speech & handwriting.

Another good one is Madagascar....and I would heartily recommend monkey ball.....especially as it has racing games, air hockey, golf and paintball games.
I like the brain training but think that a seven year old might find it a bit like doing schoolwork......especially the mental arithmetic.
If he likes problem solving, then Contact might hold his interest too.
It is a shame you can't try before you buy.
I like all the ones mentioned....so I guess I have the mental age of about 7.:D

Ooh, you could be right....see, I'm a novice with this Nintendo lark, but I have to say I am fairly well addicted to some of the games.

Kelsey (12) says Finding Nemo ( it's a Gameboy advance game but can be played on DS lite) and Ratatouille are good fun.
She has one with Monopoly,Yahtzee, Battleships and Boggle on that is good too.

Re: nintendo DS

I may have got one of those chips that hold 32 games for my 3 year old, and although i thought it may be too advanced for him, its amazing exactly what hes worked out to do. Some of the games are slightly too old (the logic ones0 but ratatoille, marios, and the disney ones are all great.

Havent got animal crossing on it (one of the few I havent got) but all the disney ones he can do

Re: nintendo DS

Did you eventually get animal crossing? we have it on the game cube. I think i would class it more of a girlie game. Its set in a village of animals and you go round day after day doing jobs such as picking up carpets from one animal and taking it to another animals house and in return you receive a gift for your own house. You can sell your gifts in the village shop and earn nicer furniture or save up and buy a bigger house.

Its basically the same thing day after day apart from holiday times such as christmas and halloween when theres a santa and special gifts or a ghost floating round the village. Its set in real time too, think thats what you call it, so everyday on the game is the same day in our own lives, unless you cheat and change the date :p It gets quite boring after a while but my daughter seems to enjoy it.

There's the place under the arches on Blackburn Road.
Went there a lot as a kid for exchanging games.
