If you wait until later in the year Garth Dawson will do them for free, as part of the Observer's bonny baby competition.

My brother got a 'free' voucher with his car, for a session with a photographer in Blackburn.

It ended up costing over seven hundred quid!

Yes, they're a swizz those 'free' sessions. The sessions are free but if you actually want to buy any of the photos the prices are astronomical.

Not a bad idea, that. :)

You pay £1 to place the child in the competition and then you can buy a pack of the photo that was in the paper in various sizes. The cost for the pack is about £25.

Steve Richardson took Siobhan's photo at nursery last week, it was an excellent picture of which we will be buying copies of for the family.

Siobhan is normally very wary of people taking her picture except for her "daddy" but was quite happy for Steve to take her picture. Ian as an amateur photographer is happy with the picture taken, which is as good a recomendation as you can get and Siobhan was very comfy with him.

Got some taken of children by Trevour Adams, Warner St. They are brilliant. He could take some of just the twins and of you and the twins, then you could decide if you afterwards if you want to be on them or not.

That's terrible, not good business at all. Got quoted a price before photo shoot. But what i liked about him was that kids were 15 and 18 at the time, not a good age to have photo's done. But he spoke to the kids as well as me which i appreaciated.

Re: Photographer

Jack was 12 months when i got it done-few days before his birthday in fact, definately not a good age for photo shoots!
Reg asked us what time was best for us because of nap time etc,and said to ring in and cancel that day if Jack wasn't up to it....he was fab with him, letting him explore everything and run riot!
He has had a few since and is due another one.....about now actually.
That was 18 months ago, now any glimpse of a camera and he starts posing straight away.......wonder where he gets that from LOL!

he was great - he really put the children at ease very quickly. Photo day at a nursery can be a time of dread but i must say they were two very pleasant days ( it is also unusual for a photographer to come over two days and they usually try to squeeze up to 100 children in in a day, i suppose this reflects a great work ethic-ie it's not just about the money, he actually wants a result that you are happy with, not just buying because you feel you have to)-

he gave each child time rather than just sitting them down saying smile a quick click and ....NEXT.

Because of this most of the children recieved a lovely natural picture

he even put me at ease lol
