Now

For a limited time* can travel for 50p single fare on outbound and inbound cross boundary journeys into neighbouring authorities (e.g. Cumbria, Merseyside, Greater Manchester) that cross their ‘home’ district boundary** or half the adult single fare on these cross boundary journeys that start or finish outside of their 'home' district but within Lancashire.

From 1st April 2008

Standard English National Concession - Free local bus journeys anywhere in England between 09.30am and 11.00pm weekdays and all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. Journeys made before 09.30am and after 11.00pm Monday to Friday will be charged at the full adult fare.

I think ya'd be better off asking on the manchester bus tho before he gets on it cos it says that it's for a certain period of time

Re: now card

The council arranged special dispensation* for Hyndburn residents to use the Nowcard in the current financial year on the Manchester bus that leaves the stop outside the chemist on Peel St, 50p each way. after 9.30.

I used it myself several times last summer

*Manchester is not in the current Now card area

Re: now card

There are local bus services that have operated from Hyndburn
for the past 15 years that have been well patronised especially by pensioners.
to Morecambe and Southport in the summer,
and to Blackpool, Cleveleys and Fleetwood all year round.

They are bus services with an X number, so they are scheduled services, not 'day trips'

I have been a regular user and they have often been full before the last pickup in Blackburn.

I have a disabled pass so could go for £1 return - non disabled pensiomers paid £5.00.

Last year our Hyndburn council made special concessions for the X82 Fleetwood, Cleveleys, Blackpool bus enabling Hyndburn pensioners and disabled to use it at the special rate of £1.

From April it will now cost us £!2 - so most pensioners won't be able to afford a day trip .

I expected that when the new NOWcard takes effect in a few weeks time in April, that these services, like all others , would be free......NOT SO....The County Council have decided that these well patronised local services to the coast will not be included in the free Nowcard scheme.

DISGRACE ----

There is a service to the Fylde coast from the Burnley area which WILL be free

DISCRIMINATION in favour of Dingles -- never thought I'd see that.

Oh Margaret That Is Bad News We Used To Pay 50p Each Way On Those Summer Buses .........not Fair On The Penaioners At All!!!!!!

Re: now card

Why is there still a service from Burnley, they still come under L.C.C.?

A 100% increase in fares is a disgrace. Pensions haven't risen by the same amount in the last year.

Re: now card

I'm disabled and I also work. I had to fight to get back to work following a couple of major strokes and I still suffer from TIA's. Eventually they allowed me to return. Then the bus fare was 50p so it cost me £2 a day as I catch 2 buses to and 2 buses from work, which was £10 per week, £40 per month. Not too bad. However, now I find that my fare has shot up. It now costs me £3.25 to get to work and free to get home. This equates to £16.25 a week and £65 per month. So I'm now getting penalized for being disabled and for working. Anybody else having this type of run in with the government? I'l like to start a list and send this to them. What do you think?

Just a suggestion ShazV does your employer not have flexible starting times or can you not come to some agreement over you starting later?
