School holidays

When are the easter holidays? Are they the two weeks coming?

I have a month off so I am a bit lost as to which of these weeks are school holidays.

Thanks

So they're off two days, then they go back for two weeks, then its end of term holidays for two weeks. Have I got that right?

Norden in Rishton is the same. I have been told it is because Easter is early this year and they have to have so many weeks in between each term, hence the end of term falls later this year. I don't remember having so many holidays when I was at school, but I guess we must have done!

Yep - that's right, think it's because Easter falls quite early this year.

When did it change to a 3.15pm finish to a school day?
School finished at 4pm when I went -it is the same as having half a day a week knocked off learning time.

Majority of them are 3pm these days.

mine break up on the 4th April for two weeks and they finish school each day at 3.35pm

weird thing is they have tomorrow and monday off due to bank hols, go in tues, weds & thurs then fri is an inset day so they are off again then back in for a week before the easter hols...why not just have the inset day a week later on fri 4th and tag it on to the two week hols?????????

My daughter has been off school today an inset day and has Fri and Monday, then they break up again on the 4th April for 2 weeks, I was under the impression that the April 2 weeks was now going to be the same every year regardless of Easter but I could be wrong.

I think you're right, Grego. I've been told that too. I was told that they have standardised the 2 week Easter hols so that they are at the same time every year.

Sometimes the Good Friday / Easter Sunday weekend will fall inside those two weeks. Sometimes, as has happened this year, it won't.

Thanks for that Lilly, I've definately heard the same.

yep thats spot on its to equalise the terms more, the earlier thread saying its back to normal next year isn't quite right it's because Easter is late next year and therefore is falls within the end of term holiday.

Schools are encouraged to tag INSET days onto holidays such as half terms

re school session times Rhyddings have been trialing the change in school day and does not impact on the "teaching " time as pupils now have a half hour lunch and there are 3 seperate sittings

the comment that the majority of schools finish at 3.00pm is a litle wide of the mark probably nearer 3.10 - 3.15

All three of ours are at three different schools, all finish at 3pm so thats a majority to me :D

Actually just checked and one of them has an official finishing time of 3.02 pm

I used to finish school at 4pm, didnt have 100 training days or inset days, but imo still had too many holidays. (miserable sod)

That's excellent news. Living in Darwen means that I'll get some peace and quiet when I'm off on my 2 week holiday starting on the 7th April. Working in Blackpool has its advantages sometimes. :D
