depends on the quality of the original

To go past A3 you need about 10Megapixels as a general guide. even then pixels isn't a infalible guide, a 6M from a DSLR will generally be a lot better blown up than a £99 10meg pixel compact. this is due to lens, sensor and processing circuits of teh image.

There are loads of online people who do this sort of thing but if you want a walk in service try garth(although I can't recall him doing it) or the big chains like max spielman , Jessops, etc

ebay is great, theres people on there who will blow photos up really big and/or print them onto canvas, they look great and are very reasonable. my friend had one done of her baby, it came on a box canvas A2 ish in size for about £50
