Street Advertising

While down town on Friday we noticed an advertising board for printed t-shirts. The board was outside the market hall but nowhere near the doors, it was actually at the side of the kerb. The company concerned are actually based in Manchester and to my knowledge have no actual business in or around the market.

Can anyone tell me how you get to place advertising boards around town like this or is it actually not legal ?

Advertising boards and banners etc on walkways and railings are not allowed at all, the council will clear them away at thier discretion, the legal ones are on lamposts etc and are brown or yellow, anything else is likely illegal, cost me a few quid in signs over the years.

Ya Derek I managed a DIY place in the old Palace Cinema at the top of Peel Street back in the 80's and we had boards out and were told in no uncertain terms to take them away or lose them
