Oveseas Aid to Create Peacocks

Do you think that money would be better spent on the steets of Britain (Policemen) instead of pouring money into African countries where the intended recipients don't benefit, or channel those funds to tackle law and order in the UK?
Are we selective as to where the aid goes or do the government give in to the sob stories of the ruling Peacocks?
I like everyone else do not like images of children starving but when you look at the heads of state they come across as though they havent a care in the world.......and are fat.

Aid to overseas countries is all well and good, but we have more than enough worthy causes in this country that urgently require funding.

Spend the cash in the UK I say

It seems that no one is interested in this subject....Have we to conclude that this subject is not important?

Hardly an unimportant topic Roy, especially in a “cash strapped” UK

Charity begins at home in my book

Maybe I should have opened the thread 'This is costing you a fortune' or 'Beware of Peter Britcliffe' or 'Garinda writes to the observer' it may get more comments of a constuctive nature?

I can think of many worthy causes in this country - hospital management, education, policing- especially clamping down on gun and knife culture, building more prisons, curbing immigration, etc. etc.

Thank god for that......I thought I was out on a limb.

There is something quite ironic about somebody who has chosen to move out of the UK and therefore increase the economy of a foreign country, then complains about what the UK does with it's money :D

Yet another random rant followed by dummy spitting if nobody wants to comment.

I didn't read this until now because I thought it was something to do with exotic birds!

I have no objection to helping people wherever they live in the world - what I do object to is that the aid often doesn't get to the people who need it. It's creamed off by those lording it over the starving and homeless so they can continue to live a lavish lifestyle. I am very wary of where my donated money goes and like to see some results. I'm also absolutely appalled at the donations which sit in bank accounts here in the UK instead of going to help the people who the donors intended it for. I'm beginning to get very cynical about charities these days.

As for government aid. Hmmmm, not sure I trust anything there.

I think the money should be spent in the UK, we have enough problems here to sort out, and it seems to be that no matter how much money is sent overseas it doesnt appear to be making much of a difference to me

Nothing more than I would have expected from you.

My children and their children live in the UK, all contributing to the economy of the UK.
I have contributed to the economy of the UK for many years and still have interests in the UK.
Enough about me.....what do you do besides using your finger to punch out rubbish?
