dilema!!!
right, I've sold my N95 as I am ready for a new contract. Currently with O2 and the call quality is rubbish even with full signal on 4 different phones so I've had enough of them. PAC code arrived this morning so I'm all set and ready to rumble!!
Now I had set my mind on the Vodaphone v1615(aka HTC TYTN II) on a £35/month contract as I get the phone for nowt and it includes 500mb/month of data. On top of that voda is the only network with a strong signal at my desk. the dilema..... The 'new improved' TYTN II ( Diamond Touch Pro ) has been announced and is set for September release. Now its rare for a phone to get to market on expected date and by the time voda get it in their range its likely to be October or even November. The new version has a number of tweaks that I can really use ( VGA screen res, faster processor, more RAM, improved video drivers etc) but November seems like an age away. Should I wait or should I buy the current one! HELP!!!!!! :D:D:D |
Re: dilema!!!
wait

Re: dilema!!!

Re: dilema!!!
iPhone 3G might have been OK if it wasn't locked to O2, had bluetooth, had a decent camera, wasn't Apple.... One of the major reasons I'm changing is I'm sick of having a marginal signal at my desk. As we have a Voda mast on teh building its full strength but all others are 1/2 bars at best. Outside its fine but inside they all fall to nothing.
thanks for your help there Neil, it was ......... no help whatsoever!!! :D |
Re: dilema!!!
why not just wait Ian and get yourself a cheap one in the meantime?
|
Re: dilema!!!
I have a decent phone for now, its the fact I want to move to voda thats making me stall. If I go 'now' on a contract I can't take the free phone when its out. If I go on a cheap voda contract for now I can't then keep my number when I start the new phone contract ( you can't start a new contract and keep the number from the same network)

Re: dilema!!!
Hi Ian
If you've put up with for so long, whats wrong with waiting a bit to get what you want. Patience is a virtue found in men and never in women Retlaw :hidewall: Quote:

Re: dilema!!!
heh, I'm notoriously impatient when it comes to gadgets and cars and bikes. :D
some things I have the patience for, others its now now now! |

Insure it with Voda When the new one comes out say the one you have is playing up and can they send the new one in replacement.;) |
Re: dilema!!!
nah, that would be fraud, I'm too honest to do stuff like that

Re: dilema!!!
Volvo V70 R, you know it makes sense...... You won't worry about the phone then:D:D
I must admit I am the same with mobiles, just got a new Sony at home waiting for me. Never had any problem with O2 (or Cellnet as they used to be). Had Orange once, no end of nightmares and got my Girl, one of those 3 Skype phones, now thats playing up!!!! |

They arnt loosing out really that way. But if you have a conscience;):D looks like your waiting. |
Re: dilema!!!
Mmmm, add this to the mix
Phone will cost £450 ish sim free when its available. Maybe less on eBay when they start selling them on if they don't like it Take out a 25 quid contract now ( saving £180 over the 18 months) the best phone I can get is either a f490 for £100 or any number of S-E's for free. Idea being sell teh phone straight away for ~100 quid profit, I'm now £280 up. Add teh £90 I get in Quidco for going through them maskes it £370, Continue using what I have now( which I'm happy with for teh moment) and then buy the DTP when its out. £100 or so tops to find! That way I get the contract/signal/keep my number now. Make use of data etc in the meantime, get the phone I want when I'm 6-7 months into the contract so I'm only 12 months away from my next trade up. with the way phones are going I reckon in 18 months there will be something new and shiny out that will want so I'll be closer to getting it. Gee, all that came to me whilst changing the duvet. :D |
Re: dilema!!!
I wish you would hurry up and decide, I'm fed up of hearing you talk about mobiles:)

Re: dilema!!!
Entwisi, please don't take this bad but have you considered gettin a life ?
|
Re: dilema!!!
I would get the phone you wanted now and wait a while until you know how the phone coming outin Nov really works. It might be rubbish!!!!
|
Re: dilema!!!
heh, decide to get the contract now(via quidco for £90 cashback) , sell teh phone I get straight away, put that cash ~£170 with the above, I also get £30 cashback from vodaphone. plus I'm saving £10/month on the contract I would have had to had to get the phone free(£180 over the 18 months) and I'll have enough to buy the new one when its out sim free :D

I'm going to put the new sim in my current phone( which is my 2 year old Nokia N80 which is still one of my favourites of all time ), the money I get from the 'new phone' plus the savings etc will all finance the new one when it finally comes out. |
