4 Generation Families?
How many of you have four generations in the family?
I have two daughters and two grandsons. My wifes mother is still alive....Thats one side of the family. My mother died three day's after the birth of my first grandson. That makes four generations on both sides. |
Re: 4 Generation Families?
Back in 2004 we had 4 generations of our family....my grandma, my dad, me and my children. Since she died in 2004 there are 3 generations.
A few years back there was a girl a few years younger than me in the local paper. She had 5 generations of women in her family....very unusual. |
Re: 4 Generation Families?
You're very lucky. I was lucky enough to know both my Great Grandmothers until I was in my mid-teens.

I didn't get to meet one of my grandmas as she died in 1976 before I was born. |
Re: 4 Generation Families?

Re: 4 Generation Families?
Though my own mother died in 2001 (aged 91), when her youngest great-granddaughter (our Laura) was 16 months old, Laura's father's grandma is still very much alive at the age of 86.
My father died 4 days after his great grandson (our Peter) was born, in 1985, so 4 generations isn't that unusual in our family. :D |
Re: 4 Generation Families?
Thinking back...My Paternal Great Grandfather died when I was eight years old in 1947.
God that makes me feel old, at the age of 83. I dont know if that counts as my father lost his life in 1944? |

Re: 4 Generation Families?
Of the known 4 male generations in my family,
not one has ever met his grandfather. 111 years between the birth of the 1st to the last. (1) born 1820, died 1871. (2) born 1852, died 1916. (3) born 1904, died 1996. (4) born 1931, still dodging coffins, last of the male line. Retlaw. |
Re: 4 Generation Families?
I never met any of my grandparents, My dad was nearly 50 when they had me ( mum was 40).
However on Julies side, Siobhan has a great grandma! :D In fact Siobhans Great grandma on one side is only 6 weeks older than grandma on the other! |
Re: 4 Generation Families?
As Ian has said there are 4 on my side of the family.
When my niece was born there were 5, my great gran, my gran, my mum, my sister and her daughter (my niece). Unfortunatley my great gran died a week after my niece was born. |
Re: 4 Generation Families?
Maddie and Zack do have a Great Granddad on Chris' side and they both met their Great Grandma on my side but she passed away three years ago so they didn't have enough time with her.

Re: 4 Generation Families?
