My pill pusher gives me asprin & furosimide, down to 140/107. sometimes as low as 126/100.

What have you been taking.

If I'm going any where special I don't take furosimide.

Retlaw.

I'm on prescribed drugs - furosemide, bisoprolol and valsartan, after the doctor tried various combinations of drugs - he's obviously got it right this time as my B.P. is now 127/74 with no ill effects. But I would not take prescribed and over-the-counter medication at the same time !

Re: High Blood Pressure

I have done some websearching about blood pressure but I cannot safely recommend anything because high blood pressure has many different causes.
Not knowing what causes yours, with the added dilemma of a possible adverse reaction with prescription drugs, makes recommending anything 'dodgy'
I have found this
Blood pressure - the causes of, and treatment - updated June 2008 | Dr Myhill
Dr Myhill is a british Gp with a practice in mid Wales.
She is renowned for successfully treating chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.(using food supplements and no drugs)

As a Gp she treats a wide variety of conditions and this page on high blood pressure may help you.
It is interesting to note that she suggests taking a magnesium supplement.
That will not conflict with your meds if you stick to the dose on the bottle.
I am taking magnesium malate as part of a CFS cure.
Beware - not all magnesium supplements are the same - some are like Epsom salts which give you the trots big style;)

I've been on Amlodipine and Ramipril for over 15 years with no side effects and very stable, low blood pressure. I take furosemide for another medical problem and, I'm with Retlaw here, only take them when I'm staying home. ;)

I don't know of any herbal remedies for hypertension but anything's worth a try if the chemicals are a problem.

Re: High Blood Pressure

I take no prescription drugs whatsoever (not even paracetemol)
My current problem is CFS due to vitamin B12 deficiency which was caused by prescription drugs (antacids in particular)
I am following Dr Myhill's food supplement recommendations and am getting better
My lounge does resemble a stockroom at Holland and Barretts - but I import mine from California where they are cheaper.

Lloyds Pharmacy sell a machine which controls your blood pressure.
OK, it isn't cheap at £199 but it was on TV and Dr Chris Steele said it was effective in controlling blood pressure...tha machine is called Resperate......and I'm not sure if i haven't read somewhere that they do a money back guarantee.

The nurse at the pill pushers surgery is always checking my blood pressure.even though I have a machine of my own, and she's forever
trying to take blood samples, last time she gave up after 3 attempts,
I keep telling her to put a tap on my shoulder.

One time I had taken my blood pressure and it was a bit high, I'd been doing a bit of milling in my workshop, and I must have cut myself on some swarf, face aches always complaing about blood dripping on the kitchen floor, when I come out of my workshop, (can't feel pain from cuts and things) when she'd stopped the bleeding and put a plaster on it, out of curiosity I took my blood presssure and it was way down from the earlier reading, by 20.

Cant imagine you turning up at your appointment with the nurse with a little device that was used in the Zulu wars that cut into your flesh.
Bleed me, Bleed me, was the cry............sod that I will stay on the pills. :)

I used to take Losartan but it made me feel ill. I told the doctor and he swapped it for Irbesartan 75mg. Blood pressure is perfect now.:)
