If I recall correctly this will be at 4pm'ish? I reckon it will be on a number of channels, certainly Sky and BBC News as mani says.

They are expecting 1.5billion people around the world to watch it.

We are paying to send a team of 60 people from the B.B.C. to cover today's event.

We sent over 175 B.B.C. employees to cover the actual election in November.

Only another three years and the whole thing will begin all over again.

Regardless of opinions of American politics or even Americans in general, the turnout was spectacular. Bit brighter than the usual old fart stuff we turn out :D

Does'nt matter who's in so called power, its those behind the scenes who
run the circus.

FBI, CIA, Military Chiefs etc.

Retlaw.

I watched some of it, quite enjoyed it, although obviously being Yanks, parts of it were somewhat over-the-top. The best bit was Aretha singing what appeared to be God Save The Queen with different words. I know sod all about American politics, but he seems to be a good lad. I'd certainly prefer him to the serial incompetent we've got running the country!

She was brilliant, as was the Rev Joseph Lowery his speach was brilliant! (he was the last person to speak, a noted Civil rights activist)

I wondered about the music to 'Let Freedom Ring' or 'My Country tis of Thee' so did a bit of digging, its all quite confusing, but this is the best I could find:

My Country, 'Tis of Thee - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My country 'tis of thee [Song Collection]:Song Collection Brief Display: Performing Arts Encyclopedia, Library of Congress

And don't forget the senior executives of the Fortune 500 companies ... you know, the ones who fly to DC in their private jets in order to beg for money.

I remember reading somewhere in Noam Chomsky about the two American govts.: The "provisional", which is elected every four years; and the "permanent", which is the one we are talking about here.

But I do have the feeling that something will be different about Obama's presidency ... this is a major change .... maybe I'm overly optimistic; but this change is dramatic .... and it has come about remarkably quickly; when I was growing up in the 60s them good ole boys was still lynchin' niggas in Mississippi, and getting away with it ...

Eric , come on , enough with the white liberal guilt . wheres the outrage on Black on Black death , but thats okay I guess . Why do we never see any outrage or action from the Black community on this issue unless it involves some heavy handed action by a white cop , then the law-suits start flying free and fast .
Hope things do change with Obama, understand the first phone call to a foreign head of state was to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and he plans to use Sen George Mitchell (Ulster peace talks) as a peace broker (seems Tony Blair is not up to snuff) but lets all remember one thing , the guy is human , he's not the Messiah returned to earth as some think .He's not some comic-book superhero in an action movie.
Also I'm a bit disappointed to see so many of the same re-cycled political hacks in his cabinet , most of whom have never held a real job in their lives ;)

No guilt involved ... just an observation of fact ... you must remember that the only way whites who murdered blacks in the south ever got convicted was on civil rights violations ... and I am aware that one of the leading causes of death among black males is homicide.

I realize that Obama is not the "messiah"; but I am happy to see that the Americans are now following Canadians by electing an intelligent man to the nation's highest office.:alright:
