That I have got to agree with...you support your corner, as I do without the intervention of the fence sitters, hopefully.
Local issues are tempered with the overall picture of politics in the UK.
What do local politics mean?....I am at a loss to get my head round them.
Is it that local councillors want to be elected for the good of the community or for the good of number one?.
I have met many councillors in my long life but have never been impressed by one of them.
I was once asked at a function to be upstanding for the Mayor of Blackburn ....my answer was to remain seated....the man was a fool of the highest order.and remained seated.
That was my opinion and thankfully I have got that right....:)

In my experience most Councillors want to be elected for the good of the community,more often than not a community in which they live.

Where the politics comes in, is how you achieve those aims. The Labour Group on Hyndburn Council also have different priorities than the Conservative Group,as can be witnessed by the debate between Graham and Andrew.

National politics often comes into the equation of course, but Local Government is essentially about matching priorities with available resources. Money

im dragging this up again ... seeing as we got a lot of threads about politics .. and especially as in the next couple of months we will have a general election .. its going to get a lot lot more political probably ..

as i said before i dont do politics its against my religon ..

I don't really see the problem, and certainly don't see the need for a separate 'politcal section'.

There's plenty of sections which hold no interest for me, technology for one, so when I check the latest posts it's easy to avoid things I dislike. It's hardly some great hardship.

Personally, what gets on my goat sometimes, is people complaing that there's too many political threads, or whatever subject it is, they dislike.

Go and start a thread which does get your sap rising!

If I see a thread that holds no interest for me, and lots of people are posting in it, I don't feel 'cheated' that they're all scribbling away, when really they should all be posting in a thread I'd also like to join in.

It's like the pathetic little whine of dull children.

You have no imagination, and therefore I have no desire to spend even a moment helping you overcome your dullness.

I dont get involved in the political threads but I do read them from time to time.

Theres nothing wrong with them and I think its good to have the debates that we see, however what irritates me and it has happened in the past on here are the repetative subjucts, By which I mean we may have three or so threads on exactly the same subjuct, just started by different folk.

Also why get nasty? again the same old same old tit for tat gang.

Just thought Id put my twopennoth in as I aint been around much:D

There isn't much on here that doesn't involve politics, or at least have the possibility of a political dimension. For example, if there is a thread about how wimpy you guys are about snow and ice, someone might bemoan the lack of preparedness of the local, county, and national govts. Politics. You just can't avoid politics. Denying an interest in politics, is itself a political decision, or, a political stance. Looks like you are SOL on this one, hon;):D.

Every single thread on here could be deemed as 'political'.

The problems only arise when people with poor interrelationship skills, get annoyed when people aren't won over by their arguments.

would be the short answer.

The more sections we have the harder it becomes for people to decide where to post things.

Political threads fit easily into General Chat, Questions or Anything Goes so there really is no need for a seperate forum for them.
