I know someone who's done some work on it.

With pubs struggling, it's not something I'd have invested in.

I wish them nothing but success, at least someones giving it a go, and trying to do something for the struggling pub trade in Ossy.

I have applied to work there, and if i get it then i will work hard in helping to make it work!:)

Theres not alot i dont know about working in/running a pub, especially in Ossy.

If I'm right Rindi, is it that shop that used to be Taylors on the corner, hardly seems big enough for a wine bar, must only be very small

Not 100% sure but I don't think it's Taylor's old sweet shop, the otherside of the ginnel. I think it's the shop next door, as you're going down the road, which years ago used to be an estate agents.

Could be wrong.

I'm presuming that it will be the whole ground floor, but yes i agree it probably will be quite small.

Thanks Marian, thought Taylors old sweet shop was a little small, the shop as I remember it was only very tiny, but the ones on the other side of the dentists are a lot bigger

It's where you can sit in an enjoy a bottle of something cheeky.

They might have a few tables and chairs on the pavement outside.

There you'll be able to enjoy the cheeky banter of the local kids.

That's what I thought you meant Marian. :)

May not be a bad idea in the current climate. Wines from all over the world can be obtained at reasonable price wholesale and without the interference of the greed ridden brewery charges and demands, hopefully this will be a winner.............choose the wine carefully.
Good Luck.

Good luck to them, but how many times have i heard 'wine bar' instead of pub? In todays financial climate, where most wine drinkers (mainly women)are downing thier chablis in the home (cheaper,no un-social smoking problems),i can't see it lasting too long after the novelty has worn off.Hope i'm proved wrong though.

Maxwell...I know exactly where you are coming from.
Luckily I am in the position of either enjoying a drink at home or meeting friends over a drink in the local bars and not looking over my shoulder to see if the anti smoking police are spying on me.
Spain chose to ignore the EEC directive on smoking.
I wonder why the UK did not do the same?
I can buy wine here for as little as 50p a bottle and its drinkable....If you want more upclass £1.50...and if you really want to push the boat out £3.00 a bottle.
A glass of wine in a bar would cost you 1 Euro....90p. with a tapas thrown in.
In the UK £3.00 for a far inferior wine.
If the UK was playing on a level pitch within the EEC maybe I would come home to roost otherwise I will stay where I am.
In Spain you pay for an opening licence called an Appatura and pay taxes as and when they become due but dont have rates that price you out of business.
We have a lot to learn and the sooner we tell the Lord of business cock ups to get on his bike the more we will all benefit. :)

There used to be loads of them in London too.

They seem to be popular in places where there are a lot of tourists.

We don't get many tourists, unless they've taken a wrong turn somewhere.

The whole Dingle thing is a bit odd actually.

If the Dingle family actually moved to Burnley from Emmerdale, they'd be viewed by the locals as aspirational sophisticates.

Nobody's knocking anyone, but obviously with your vast knowledge of Accy Web, after years of contributing with thousands of post, us mere mortals will have to stand in the naughty corner and beg your forgiveness for discussing this proposed venture. Having lived in Ossy for 63 years you get an idea what flies and in the current climate when pubs and clubs are struggling and money in general is tight people will reserve judgement. I hope this venture is a success, but if, as you say, it only last 6 months, then it will have been a very expensive exercise

I don't think anyone with any sense wishes them anything other than the greatest success.

Starting any new business, at anytime is hard.

Like everyone I'm much rather seen a new venture, that's giving people employment, than another empty shop.

I hope it's a big hit.

They've certainly chosen a town with people who appreciate the odd tipple.

:)

No need to be sorry.

I'm sure everyone wishes them the best of luck.

Some people gave their opinion, that it's a difficult time for the licenced trade, but then that's their right to do so on a public local forum.;)

As long as it doesn't finish up on the Castaway island for 4 years. (film)

Might just throw in the sea at Blackpool and hope the tide and winds do their job.
