Fund raising for Rhyddings Park

We need to raise some money for pets corner in Rhyddings Park. All the money that we've currently got is project funding but what we don't have is money for the day to day running of the pets corner. This is not my area of expertise.

So, my question is - what method of fund raising would people recommend and could someone give us a hand?

Raffle
Quiz sheets
Treasure hunt

etc

Any other ideas?

Can't think of anything off hand but if there is any way that I can help out please give me a shout. I will be limited as to what I can do but will do what I can.

Depends gayle on how much you need to raise ... and how you want to do it ...

You could run a bonus ball ... on the national lottery .. that would bring money in each week.
A Quiz night in one of the pubs with a raffle and you could always do play your cards right as well. you could run a monthly one

Have you tried community foundation. They are giving £5k grants and haven't had a tremendous number of applications.

Any other ideas?

Merchandise ? ;)

Re: Fund raising for Rhyddings Park

We've already used Community Foundation for a project grant so can't go back to them.

What I'm talking about here is day to day running of the pets corner. Hard to get grants for that.

Do they not have sponsors/adopters for any of the animals ?

the kebab shop wanted to adopt the goat but neil said no :D

Re: Fund raising for Rhyddings Park

5km (or whatever) run around and around and around the park. Maybe out of the park for a while rustling pet feeding dishes for collection :D Can dress up as the animals.

Put your Chris at the front as the peacock being experienced like, Neil at the back as the goat, tossing everyone into action (no pun intended).

A one day car boot sale might meet the most pressing cash need until a regular income is organised.
I have some stuff that would be sellable at a car boot - most of us could do with having a spring clearout - likely enough to fill a stall

I think that's a good idea.

After all there is a large Pet Warehouse in the town, who may be willing to provide some food etc, in exchange for a small advert in the Pet's Corner.

Just this evening at the theatre with Lettie and Sparkologist, they were telling me about an orangutan he sponsors in Malaysia. So much a month in exchange for updates. Ideal present for children who can't keep pets, for whatever reason.

Good luck.

Re: Fund raising for Rhyddings Park

I know you said that you tried Community Foundation but was it the "Grassroots" grant run by Merseyside Community Foundation who also run the Lancashire Community Foundation ? "Grassroots" have a fund which gives £5,000=00 over 3 years. Have you tried "It's Your Community" which is a grant of £1,000=00 in conjunction with O2 ? Is your group a member of CVS (Council for Voluntary Services) who often have ways and means of suggesting funding...PM me for the number if you are not a member. Thwaites Brewery Community Fund is another contact. Have you contacted LCC Environmental Grants? good luck Laurie

That's a good idea dave, there maybe local businesses who will act as sponsors and individuals maybe willing to adopt an animal in pets corner, so seeing I've suggested it I'll be the first to volunteer to sponsor an animal any other takers

Re: Fund raising for Rhyddings Park

When I received my Friends calendar I did offer to pay for it, but because of the way it was funded, you couldn't be seen to 'sell' them. Would it be finacially worthwhile to produce one for next year, that could help with funding, or even Christmas cards if anyone's taken some nice photographs in the park in the recent snow?

Even a calendar featuring the animals should prove popular, and there's no shortage of animal lovers out there.

People were very impressed with the calendars, and I'm sure wouldn't mind paying a good price for them if the money was being used for such a good cause.

Could be an idea to get different firms to sponsor a month on the calendar, which would offset the production costs, then all sales could go to the fund

We are doing one for next year and we will be charging a nominal fee for it.

In the meantime, I think I might do a raffle - anyone got any prizes to donate?

Anyone willing to sell a book of tickets?

Can anyone who is able to sell a few strips of tickets for us please pm me.

I'll post out the raffle strips (with both halves) then when you've sold them you'll need to send the remaining half back to me with the money before the next FoRP meeting which is on the 24th March.

Clare I forgot to send you some tickets, I'll drop some off later today if you're still able to sell any.

Thanks

Re: Fund raising for Rhyddings Park

A huge thank you to everyone who bought tickets for this. It was drawn last night at the Friends of Rhyddings Park meeting.

We made £156.

There is only one prize unclaimed and that was sold on a white ticket - 255.
If you've got that ticket you've won a selection of Boots toiletries.

Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and a special thanks to everyone who donated raffle prizes.

It is much appreciated.
