Oat Cakes
Where in Acc can I buy oat cakes - the sort that my mother used to hang over the clothes rack to dry before they got buttered or had cheese rolled up inside and then grilled?
Have you any ways of using them? |
Re: Oat Cakes
If you have a Sainsbury's nearby, they sell them.

Re: Oat Cakes
Nairn's oatcakes are not what I have in mind. I think they are sweet biscuits. The oatcakes I have in mind were as big as a dinner plate or large pizza. Very thin.

Re: Oat Cakes
You mean the ones that look a bit like pancakes, don't you? I love them and always keep some in the freezer - they freeze well. Superb with cheese. :)

Re: Oat Cakes
Can't think of anywhere in Accrington, but I am sure that one of the stalls on Burnley Market sells them.
Many many moons ago I used to work in Slingers on Peel Street....we used to sell them......they were like pancakes, very thin........personally I didn't like them at all. They used to be delivered still warm...wrapped in tissue paper and in large cardboard boxes. They were very popular. |
Re: Oat Cakes
As I said, I buy mine at Sainsbury's, on the bakery shelves.
My mother used to get them from Blackburn Market but that was 50 years ago. I've no idea if you still can get them there but I know Warrington Market doesn't sell them. |
Re: Oat Cakes

Re: Oat Cakes
Of course, they were always Staffordshire Oat Cakes, weren't they? I'd forgotten. Anyway, you can buy them online. :)
