Banned Words
As it's now a case of not wanting to offend anyone under any circumstances whatsoever, could the moderators please supply us with a comprehensive listing of all words that are henceforth banned?
I was going to do a post about restaurants involving the use of the word "Bengali", which refers to a person whose ethnic background is from Bangladesh, or East ****stan as it was known until 1970. However, given the recent edict about not referring to their ex-compatriots from the western part of the country with a similar word structure ending in "i", I'm now totally confused. I was also going to refer to a South American restaurant called "Gri*gos" (which is an american-spanish term for an anglo-saxon), unfortunatly I feel can't use this either... Please advise |

Re: Banned Words
I must admit Roy, that I cannot see your reasoning for threatening Tealeaf with a banning! I always assumed that we had freedom of speech, even on the Accy web site, with the exception that we didn't use certain (undefined) words, and that humour is not a problem (even tongue-in-cheek). This I fully accept.
But I feel that your threat is unwarranted, unless you feel that you personally are under a threat and wish to control the site according to your personal dictates and worries. I do hope that you are not under any sort of pressure, either in the UK or in Russia, and you can rest assured that you have my support in all things fair. But lets not resort to threats, it's just not like you. |
