whats your favourite wine?

i'm not really a wine drinker myself, i hate red and i hate white, i've just started drinking Rose' and am finding it rather nice, my favourite it Mateus Rose' at the moment, till i find another i like

i'm not much of a drinker and feel slightly tipsy off just one glass (lightweight i know) i certainly wouldnt make a good alcoholic

so whats your favourite? and why? :D

:D you asked about vinegar so I give you my answer :D
Tried loads, never liked any, people say this is a good one, you'll like this.
I understand why the tasters spit it out, daft putting it in their gob in the 1st place if you ask me :D

Re: whats your favourite wine?

Mmm, all depends on my mood, I'm a bit of a wino(in teh best possible way) so

hot day - a nice dry Soave or muscadet ( both very dry crisp whites), very very cold, equally whiulst it goes against 'tradition' a nice Beaujolais Village really cold out the fridge is lovely. just like drinking adult Vimto.

a sip day, got to be a quality St Emillion or Chateau Neuf du Pape, I love really strong reds. I once had a cracking bottle of Margaux at a restaurant I worked. turned out it should have retailed at 75 quid...........

Rose' are noice when you want a easy drinker, fruity 'pop' like. nothing heavy. Good ones to try are the usual Gallo, Stowells lot for every day. there is such a range of rose wines that you can find stuff you like and stuff you don't. Part of teh fun is finding out!

Keep with it and be adventurous, its worth it.

Re: whats your favourite wine?

I'm with Entwisi ... love Italian Soave or Muscadet white .. not bothered about cost ... the cartons of Soave from Asda are great and cheap. Hate sweet wine and not too keen on Chardonney, hey, but any port in a storm eh ?

Red different .. Nuits Saint Georges for me all the time if poss... not averse to others in red, as long as French ... hate German and crap Australian. Just has to be the correct temperature .. does make a difference.

White wine.. never red... I have no rivers to cross ... anyone? :)

Red makes my head hurt ... white has no effect at all in the morning..

I am particularly fond of... Cinzano Bianco.. its thick and sickly like me :)

Re: whats your favourite wine?

only white and whatever my sisters served up .... i got loads of wine in the house but dont drink any of it ... sisters do when they come round but otherwise no one else does.

Re: whats your favourite wine?

I love white wine

I'll drink any Chardonnay... from £3-00 a bottle to whatever:D

I really like a Jon Josh Cadonna that we sell at the min, that one seems to be so refreshing!

Rose tastes too sweet for me and red wine is like thick vinegar:D

I went to the Jalon Bodega on Tuesday of this week with my wife and daughter. Bought 10 Litres of Red for 11 Euros.
Not the best wine in the world but drinkable. :)

I drink quite a lot of wine and have done for years now, I deal with wine merchants and always have around 30 or so bottles in my Cellar, well a purpose made cupboard. I'm more of a white wine drinker myself, but have the occasional red or rose'. I have wine from Australia, South Africa, Chile, Italy, Spain, Germany, USA and New Zealand. My favourites are Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Chablis, a nice rose' is Bomberosa

Re: whats your favourite wine?

I developed a taste for it when I was wed to 'alf an Iti'.
I like white very dry -Soave, and red mild and fruity - Bardolino
At one time I used to brew my own from large cans of grape juice.
That was when you could buy cans with a particular grape type, but the EEC stopped that practice so the results got from home brewing became disappointing.
I had the 'understairs' full of wine racks - about 100 bottles

Almost all red wines are fine by me, especially the Australian and Californian ones. I like white, as long as it's dry, and I love champagne.

I am not a wine drinker, but I really like JPRoberts, which is more a champagne I think, a glass or two of that, maybe with an occasiona measure of peach archers is awsome!

Re: whats your favourite wine?

I like red white and rose, all for different occasions. I like reds to be rich and full bodied, Barolo is lovely, needs to stand open for a good while though. Whites I like as an everyday wine, not a fan of Chardonnay though, like a Soave or anything slightly dry and very cold. Rose is ok , some are too sickly , Le Froglet one from M&S is nice though.

Tonight I am testing a wine substitute.
Fine old 'Queen Margot' 40 proof and brewed in Scotland.
Tis said that you should never mix the grape with the barley, so tonight good people I will observe that and enjoy what i'm supping....cheers.

West Ender 03-04-2009 21:51

On the very rare occasions, in the dim and distant past, when I have mixed the grape and the grain - I have been very, very sick. :(

I like many wines white and red. I do love a South African red but what ever i have its got to be a medium sweet. Cannot abide a wine thats too sweet or one thats too dry.

I don't know what all this fuss is over Rioja; the last bottle I had tasted like a Mexican hooker I used to know. It's the same with the Aussie reds - why, oh why, do they have to bung oak chippings in the vats? I want to taste the fruit, not the inside of some old dog kennel.

I'm just about to start on a Portugese Dao....lovely stuff, but not cheap.
