Many people get the two mixed up so I will let you off :D:D Have a read of this interesting wiki for an explaination of where proof came from. In the UK 40% alcohol by volume (ABV) would be 70 degrees proof. In the US they would call it 80 proof or 40% alcohol by volume (ABV). |

My favourite is Spey, single malt, a very smooth palatable whiskey

Re: On the theme of drinks: Fav Whisky?
It’s spelt Whisky if it’s from Scotland. And Whiskey everywhere else.

Re: On the theme of drinks: Fav Whisky?
I used to drink whisky and dry ginger. It was my "tipple" for years, loved it, liked Teachers' or Bell's. For about the last 15 years I haven't been able to touch the stuff and even the smell of it makes me nauseous. Odd!

Re: On the theme of drinks: Fav Whisky?
Like your choice shakermaker, Glemmorangie is my scotch in single malts. The smoothest blended scotch I,ve ever had was Manchester United special blend. The wife brought me a bottle back on one of her visits home. Smooooooth as the team it,s named after.

Re: On the theme of drinks: Fav Whisky?
Nicest Blended Whisky for me is the Isle Of Skye 8 yr old. Really smooth, each Whisky in the blend is at least 8 yrs old, but many are much older, not too easy to get outside Scotland though.
For Single Malts it depends on the mood and the time i'm having one. But i like Balvenie Double Wood, Old Pulteney, Dalwhinnie, Laphroaig and Glenmorangie Portwood finish. Best Regards - Taggy |
