There are lots of places you can sail to from there, and accommodation is plentiful, as there are lots of big Victorian houses on the front who do B & B. |

Everything from beautiful stretches of water (lochs) to hills, castles, islands ... could go on and on, but you will never be bored no matter where you choose for a holiday in Scotland. I love going through Glencoe, and had a holiday around Pitlochry ... was great. Driving along Loch Ness is exciting too. Maybe good idea to try the West Coast first as get the benefit of the coast as an addition. Quiet roads are an advantage. Think after you have passed Glasgow (Glasgow's great too though), just close your eyes and stick one of those needles you stick in other people and go for it. Although beautiful places in England and Wales ... it does have the feeling of another country .. magic. Eeew think I might come with ya'. |
Re: Scotland
When i was a kid mum & dad used to take me on holiday to scotland over easter. He'd just drive and wherever we ended up we'd find a b&b to stop in and then next day set off again. We always ended up at fort william though ... and drive up by the side of loch ness on the monday .. Stayed in Pitlochory - and saw the fish ladder they had there.
Mind you we were always in scotland - went to ireland from stranraer to larne every year ... |

Attachment 13657 Breathtaking. If you carry on to the end of this road, you will find Rannoch Station which takes you on a lovely train ride north. Think I ought to put my name down for Tourist Marketing ... :D |

Isle of Bute, you get the CalMac ferry from Wemyss Bay, just outside Largs, been a few times, lovely scenery, plenty to explore, would certainly go again. It's in the Gulf Stream so does get good weather now and then!:)
