However there is the problem of copyright, not long ago, someone that posts on here regularly, (not K-P), took objection to a bride and groom posting their wedding snaps in the gallery on here, because he claims to have the copyright, whoever you choose make sure you don't have that problem after all you are paying him, to take them not the other way around!

Re: Wedding photographs cheap

you haven't put when but we do have a number of rather decent photographers on here, maybe you may be happy to accept the option of letting a few 'enthusiastic amateurs' do it as a team effort and give you teh piccys for nowt purely for teh experience( or maybe some beer!)

you have to remember that there is a lot of pressure on a photographer at weddings to make sure they don't mess up as you only get one chance. I guess its up to you to decide just how important these piccys will be and as such how much is 'cheap' worth.

one thing worth thinking of doing that some friends at work did was buy a cart load of disposible cameras(pre paid processing) and hand them out to everyone and then collec them at teh end. the amount of candid pictures they got was ace(OK they got a huge amount of rubbish as well ) but there were plenty of really good image that a pro photographer would never get.

K-P only does actionshots, so the wedding night might be an option but he doesn't do weddings :D

Re: Wedding photographs cheap

part of teh problem is that people have a misguided view of 'photgraphy' now, they think that because thir 100 quid digi cam can take half decent piccys that real photographers are ripping them off. that is absolutely not the case.

there is as mentioned above a HUGE amount of responsibility with doing pictures of a once in a lifetime event. not to mention the extra cost of 2x cameras, mem cards, computers, flash guns, etc, then you need teh 'eye' to take a good piccy, yes ordinay peeps take teh odd decent piccy, its the ratio of good to rubbish that changes!!!

The first part of your sentence is what's known as a comment, or more accurately a judgement.;)

I agree that giving guests disposable cameras can produce some candid and fun images, that a professional photographer probably wouldn't have access to.

if you want to do it realy cheaply stand infront of a speed camera and get a friend to drive past realy fast, you should get two pics sent to youthrough the post within a few weeks:D

Id have a look around at different photographers most will take as many or as little as you want, most offer wedding packages with prices to suit your needs.
Its not easy doing a wedding shoot and if it was me i would go with a proffesional.we can all use photoshop but you need a good pic to start with

I know Margaret .. I picked up on it, (smug) but this is a newbie, and sometimes they don't understand our sense of humour in the early days... :D

Didn't even mention anything to Jaysay when he typed 'picked up' my ears instead of 'pricked up' in another thread .... :rofl38:

Kate I was talking about Samf's criticism......not the renewing of wedding 'vowels'......if that is what you meant....and as Samf is listed as a senior member.....surely he can't be that new.

Yeah, way to clever.

Though I did have the intelligence to see that SamF's scorn for the renewing of wedding vows, had nothing to do with the subject of this thread, i.e. photography.

You'd think any moderator worth their salt would have picked up on that.;)

Must admit SamF was a bit naughty in what he said, however, is interesting subject ... who's going to open a new thread on this then ?

Wonder if the 'honour and obey' is going to be deleted from the vows now.

Sorry Kaz .. just our bit of fun.

Not sure if you're talking about me, there. I had a problem with someone other than the B&G copying my images.

I think your point about copyright might be a bit misguided. You don't acquire copyright of a song just by buying a CD. I don't release copyright in any images. The CDs I send out go with a usage licence, which basically prevents anyone from passing off my work as their own, or from otherwise profiting from the work. They can be printed by the B&G or used online as long as there's a credit to the photographer.

You have to be funny to be clever and clever to be funny. A good photographer has to be clever and funny to make money.
In answer to you question re the English Language, it went 'tits up' when spin doctors were employed to make us all feel like idjuts with phrases like 'Boom and Bust' and 'Stability in the economy' and more to the point. ' This is a global recession' what the hell does that mean?
If someone tries by his own hand to make a living doing what he is good at, why crab it...........I could say to one or two who try to take the miss, get off your arse and try it yourself.
