Failing that try biological washing liquid in dilute form(it is advisable to do a test spot first)

Spray the affected place with the solution........rub it in and then go over it with a dry cloth to take up most of the fluid......vacuum next day and it should be free of the smell.

There is a great product called "Skunk-Away" ... used it many a time on dogs who have tried to eat a skunk ... great for getting rid of cat spray smell too ... your local store probably stocks it;):D

Diluted vinegar willl neutralise an alkaline stain but be careful, test on a hidden area first in case the colour of your carpet is alk. based.

Wash the stained area with mild soapy water. When dry, vacuum it and spray with Febreeze.

Diluted vinegar and Bicarb.

Best of both then.

Search kim & aggies website - they use that trick.

Well, yes Margaret, but biological washing powder does contain what is known in the trade as OBA ... Optical Bleaching Agents . and is just that ... contains bleach ... so be very careful. Would never use this type of detergent on my coloureds, is meant for whites in the main.

Kate, I have used biological liquid(much diluted) on my deep red carpet(after first doing a patch test) and found it to work well........but I would use bicarb first as this does remove smells but not always stains of a greasy nature.
