Never mind the area, what are you like? I'm sure the people living there would like to know you aren't some sort of grot pot that's going to drag the place down, can you supply references? Will you be an enhancement to the area? Or will you just turn out to be someone that doesn't care about their neighbours with an "I'm alright Jack sod you sort of attitude?".

Restless, if your a decent person you`ll fit in well. I`ve lived here for 47 years and most of my neighbours used to babysit me!! We all keep an eye out for each other and any undesirables who move don`t usually last long as we know who the landlords are round here, and they get told in no uncertain terms!

Well if i do get the house i just hope my next door neighbours bathroom is next to what will be my music room so they only have to listen to my crappy music whilst having a crap :D

reason i asked.

My friend's GF's sister used to live on there a few years ago and she had to move because of apparent trouble she was having. The same people moved down church near to where my friend was living and his house was burgled and said people are suspected to have done it. He had heard they had moved back around the area and well may as well ask see if anybody living in the area knows if its quiet or that there is trouble.... but i guess you get trouble everywhere

the area has gone totaly to crap, vandalism is high and there is a high burgulary rate , a lot of houses in that area are now rented whos tennants attract trouble

the top end is better than the bottom end of the area but its a far cry from what it was

examples of problems with the area

you stand a good chance of getting mugged if you walk alone towards the just drinks off licence, i now of 4 people that have been held up at knife point

plenty of kids drinking in the church and school grounds who are most likely resposible for the scratched cars in the area and and other vandalism including smashing bottles against houses and cars

aldi carpark and malt street are used as drop of points for drug dealers and you can expect to have junkies peeking over your back wall while they wait for their drugs to be dropped off to see if you have owt worth nicking

if your renting then at least you can move if it gets worse but i wouldnt advise buying in that area anymore if you can afford elswhere

sayingthat most of accrington has gone to crap , run while you can and look elswhere:)

edit:

i just noticed you mentioned you are looking to rent atteh bottom

i sold my house at teh bottom of that area because i got fed up of the alcholics, smackheads, gangs ,drug dealers and muggings that were occuring

lived in that area for over 25 years and can quite safely say that anything bad you have heard is probably true or worse

Re: devonshire street area

thats why i moved away.when i first moved onto orange street it was a nice little area.a nice patk area at the end of the street with a nice scenic tree ,nice neighbours.first a guy hooper bought the house at the end of the street leaving it empty ,its been empty for 8 + years complained to hyndburn borough council said they couldnt do anything wrong area:confused:then the school chopped the tree down and erected a fence that resembled a prison, the the rent a mob moved junkie scum and a polish invasion with about ten living next door complained to rent a scum said they couldnt do anything the owner was abroad and is polish.so you see most houses are now owned by one polish person who dont give a flying ..... accrington is a disgrace let down by the councillors mp etc.........thats the reason why i came back up to sunny scotland......
